V8 90
I've had a Viper on my CZ Hmr & now have a Hawke Sidewinder on it, same as the one you've been offered - awesome for the money - No going back for me !!
tweedledee
Mtc are massively over rated.

steve_b_wales
I am a big fan of Hawke scopes. especially as they carry a 10 year warranty. I also have an MTC Genesis scope which is superb. I would opt for the Hawke.
Dekers
The answer to this is almost certainly going to be the usual........ What I have .................. response. You appear to have experience of the brands and you know YOUR requirements of a scope better than anyone else..... and you have already had opposite responses. The Hawke are fine but a little heavy, I'm not sure how they actually compare weight wise with the MTC. I have old and new Sidewinders, both of which I got at give away prices, they do what I want. Optically the latest 30mm tube and 56mm Objective offer an improvement on clarity over the old 25mm and 52mm objective. Never owned a MTC, never found the need, but I have looked through a few. I suspect either will serve you adequately, so...back to you, the choice is yours!

V8 90
I sold my MTC Viper due to Whiteouts - Never had any issues with my Hawke Sidewinder - get it bought !!!
chrisjpainter
I sold my MTC Viper due to Whiteouts - Never had any issues with my Hawke Sidewinder - get it bought !!! Yup, my Mamba went the same way. I went for the Nite-eye as a replacement - which is perfect for my needs - but I was tempted by the Sidewinder would have been tempting had i found a second hand one when I was looking, but as tweedledee says, the MTC name is a bit overrated. it's a great scope, but just ruined by the white-out problems

Salop Matt
For me it would be the MTC, I have both brands and the only difference i can see in them is the reticule, ive had no white out issues or weight issues with either. I just prefer the MTC SCB reticule, i find the Hawke ret a bit to fine. ATB Matt
njc110381
I've not had any white out issues either? Just bought a second MTC because I like them so much! Their customer service is fantastic in my experience which counts for a lot.

The Sidewinder I now have on my FAC air rifle is an excellent scope in it's price range. ..and the glass is the same in the Mamba range as on the Vipers.
