wymberley
On joining BASC one is asked one's age. To keep costs down, one is also asked to pay by direct debit. Apart from suiting BASC, this probably also suits many members as it does make life easier. However, as I've just found out this 'ease' can come at a cost. I would suggest that should there be any pensioners who, like myself, are content to let BASC and the banks get on with it, and who did not qualify for the 'Senior' membership rate when they joined BASC but do now (aged 65), that they have a shufti at their bank statements just to ensure that they are on the correct rate. That is unless one is happy to make an annual extra £10 donation.
wymberley
Emailed BASC about this a couple of days or so back on the 'Contact Us' facility. Thought I might have had a courtesy reply at least, but no. I'm afraid I really can't help thinking that this organisation has become more of a business than an association. CharlieT
BASC...you won't beat them. That's a bold statement. The same could be said for all the organisations. I belong to BASC, CA and the NGO and find them all equally as good.

Scully
oh well guess it doesn't matter much, whats the NGO membership pack like? Magazine is ok;badge is nice.Smart polo shirts. Some very nice ladies on the NGO stall at Lowther;much prettier than Johnny Scott and the other hairy eared brigade on the BASC one. What more can I say? Alasdair Mitchell has defected though (to BASC) which is a bit of a ******. Had a gander in the CA one but it was full of horsy types.Don't mind jodphurs on a woman though.....so tight you wouldn't need to take them off! wymberley
So it's CA, NGO or SACS. Not too fussed about the jodphurs, which one is going to have women who like Rioja and vintage Port and who also smoke KE Imperials?
Penelope
Wymberley, I'd suggest the NGO. I was a member between 2003 until I re-joined the Blackwater Wildfowlers Assoc. who are BASC affiliated in 2008. David BASC
And just to repeat, by all means air your gripes about BASC on here if you want to; it’s a free country… but please call, write e-mail or PM me with your problem and i will do all I can to sort it out for you... What’s the point in moaning here and repeatedly turning down offer of help from me??? David
al4x
I think he is just miffed that you haven't applied the pensioner reduced rate to his DD, is this something that everyone needs to be aware of or should it have happened automatically?
David BASC
Indeed, I take his point, and yes if we have your DOB then they system should, and as far as I know always does roll you over to Senior Citizen when you hit 65. However, our friend says he’s emailed BASC – but did the e-mail get here? Unfortunately some Hotmail or gmail e-mails get caught in our filter. Have we got his DoB, or more importantly his correct DoB? All I need is a name and post code or a membership number, I can check his record there and then and find out what’s going on and sort it out – as I have offered before. The offer to help has been made but not taken up. David
wymberley
What’s the point in moaning here and repeatedly turning down offer of help from me??? David Define, 'repeatedly'. I make it once, and you thanked me for not taking up your kind offer as you were off on your hol's and had already given a good reason for the possible delay for a response to my e-mail. Scully
Not too fussed about the jodphurs, which one is going to have women who like Rioja and vintage Port and who also smoke KE Imperials? Well Clarissa is usually knocking about with J.Scott, but I never saw her at Lowther(unless she was trying on some jodphurs out back ) so that rules out BASC.There again she is a good cook, likes a drink(or did, think she is alcoholic),not sure if she smokes, but she could certainly carry you upstairs to bed when you overload on the vintage Port and Rioja. What more could you want?
