utectok
Out crow shooting for 2 hours today been promising to sort this field of barley for ages and it was being destroyed by crows. Shot 32 in the two hours mad really. Towards the end this 14 yr old girl who has moved into a cottage with her familly next door to my inlaws (moved to scotland from Greece but an English speaking familly). She walks right into my pattern I say hello then she sits down on the wet grass right in the middle of deeks and starts writing in a book. I get out of the hide unload gun and stroll over and tell her she must keep to the public footpaths she gets up gives me evil stare and walks off. Given she walked about a mile from her house in town clothes through mud and **** it was to some purpose! It just occurred to me that what should you do in this instance as she could go home and lie that I was threatening her etc. next time ill video it on the iphone to be on the safe side! She never said a word I was hoping to show her all the damage the crows were doing to the crops but he ho? What would you do? TrapFiller
I'm thinking videoing a 14 year old girl is not the best idea. May be better to talk to the parents.
Cannon
I wouldn't video it for a start. You could get arrested for having footage of a minor.
malkiserow
I might video my other hand to show there was no gun in it and record the whole conversation
welsh1
I wouldn't video it for a start. You could get arrested for having footage of a minor. Why be so paranoid?you won't get arrested for taking video or photos of a minor in that type of situation,in fact you can't be arrested at all for videoing or taking photos in a public place. The exception would be if you were trying to take photos or video of a sexual nature, then you deserve to be arrested.
Malik
Strange. What was the intentions behind it all? Maybe a random thought that has no meaning but... Recently moved, completely different place, she is a teenager, the book she was writing in was her dairy, she wanted to get out the house for whatever reason. You told her to move (quite rightly) she wasnt in the best of moods and so you got an evil look lol. Its abit random but then again the world can be an unpredictable place. I wouldnt worry about it

Kes
I think I might mention this in a conversation with an feo and ask him what 2 do in such a situation - then he knows its happened and whatever you do, that conversation will be recorded if it ever happens again - by him and by you. Rather unusual event but then teenage girls can be a little like that, just cover your back.
KFC
Also, if it's convenient to do so, I not only unload but also put my gun back into its slip so there can't be any misunderstandings about which way my gun was pointing or what my intentions may be. A public footpath runs through a drive on our syndicate land. Often, a gentleman choses the point at which we start our drive to walk his dog on the footpath. This takes him through the line of beaters, directly towards the line of guns then around the back of them and back to the local village. It's a public footpath and nothing is going to stop him using it; he always keeps his dog on a lead. Fortunately the footpath doesn't go too near the cover that we're driving. The shoot captain always directs the guns to unload and for the beaters to hold the line. We all stand and watch him take his walk then, as soon as he is out of danger, we just carry on with the drive.
Bleeh
To be honest I'd go to such extent to take break the gun into pieces, then put it away.As any parent will tell you, 14 year old girls are ideological and frankly unreasonable, so I won't try reasoning with her as you won't get anywhere. Ask her to leave, and tell her she's breaking the law and you are phoning the police. Don't say anything more than that. If she starts asking you questions/calling you names (etc) remain silent or repeat the above sentence.I'd contact the police immediately, and as you said any video taping possible is a good idea. The main problem is if she makes something up, Joe public/Bobby policeman will probably be biased towards her side, If she started using words she doesn't really understand yet ("He looked at me all pervy!") you'll find yourself getting covered in **** faster than you know what to do. utectok
Yeah interesting I though I shouldn't leave my gun in the hide as I would be done for leaving a firearm so I took it with me all 20 yrds to the girl broken and empty, However maybe I should have left it? I was just concerned that she would go off and say "he threatened me with gun" (I used to work in a youth club and know what lying whatsits some kids can be hormones or something?). I think a voice recording would have been good just to show I was calm reasonable and even friendly I thought. Apparently she was egged on by MIL who unbeknown to me had been walking a donkey by the field back from village funday (I made a special effort not to shoot the fields near MILs house since the last heart attack event if you remember!). Honestly you cant win with these people something about it being a sunday too?? (although as far as I know inlaws don't believe in god?). welsh1
Just record them on your phone, stay calm, ask them to leave for their own safety,if they refuse walk away and call the police because you believe a breech of the peace may occur because of her/their actions and demeanour toward you,i would continue to record them until they left or the police arrived. oscarsdad
I'm thinking videoing a 14 year old girl is not the best idea. May be better to talk to the parents. Why on earth not? She is trespassing and you would be videoing her to cover yourself from any accusations an anti is likely to make. It's nothing sexual and it is a shame that the immediate concern is tha you could be accused of something like that.
tedster
Probably not even an anti, she was maybe just fed up with the noise!

Agreed., Video her arrival, movements, you making the gun safe then approaching and your conversation with her, then any further involvement. Keep it continuous, job done. Pole Star
After an unfortunate carry on by two Italian so called guides at my back door who refused to leave my advice is call the police & ask them what to do , all that girl or any other anti has to do is say you threatened them with a gun & you are in a lot of bother so video her record her via your mobile phone & call the law & don't wast a second . I wasted time in my case by trying to talk these filth away from my door which I now know that was a mistake as they had a plan they were working on & anyone with a grudge against you could do the same so call the law & seek their advice in the field there & then .
