camokid
hi lads i have been waiting a very long time for a 270 cal rifle and after waiting three months for a variation i was getting ready to forget about but then lady luck arrived in the form of my ticket back with my open 270 0n... as im not going to use this rifle that often i did not want to go over the top on the price so i kept in low i managed to find a BSA 270 up north and decided on that was the one here she is programs to take screenshots now for her first trip. before i had a play with it i really wanted to test the cal so after a few boxes of round and a good mess about i was happy to take her on a stalk.. i arrived at the farm for 4 o'clock am and watch over a few fields a hour of that and nothing spotted a decided on a mooch and see if i came across anything. it was not long before a spotted a buck in the field and made my way over . but when i got there ! nothing he had vanished. i thought i would sit and weight 10 minuets in the hope he would pop out---30 minuets passed and still nothing. never mind i though i will carry on and take a look around.. i walked around the hedge to find him no more than 50 yards away he had not spotted me so i retreated behind the bush raised the gun to my sticks and sneaked back around the hedge. he was still there a littler further up. i waited for my shot and then the bang rang out like a bomb lol it must have woke up the country lol the deer was down i was over the moon wicked gun kicks like a donkey and a stunning first deer for it.. he was looked over and sorted there and then. what a stunner images free image hosting this is the finished head now hanging on the wall screen shot on windows now as much as i loved the rifle i new she could look a 100 times better so i went to work on her .. i have her a new Simmons wtc scope and a wood work make over. i now think hes is perfect just what i wanted i traditional safari looking rifle .. greenshot download screen shot on pc online photo storage image upload with preview thanks all andy

FOXHUNTER1
Lovely buck Andy. What made you choose a .270 ? Personally I don't like them due to the noise and recoil but its down to personal choice.

camokid
Lovely buck Andy. What made you choose a .270 ? Personally I don't like them due to the noise and recoil but its down to personal choice. hi mark thanks mate.... i was toying with both 308 and 270 i opted for the 270 as i would one day like to take a boar and i have heard that it is the chosen cal for the job not saying 308 aint suitable . its also still a big energy dumper and flattens everything it hits.. i no people are not keen on the cal but i don't no why! yes its loud and kicks but its a gun they do go bang. i was told by a lot not bother with one and im glad i didn't listen there not bad at all ...bring back the mighty 270 i say thanks all for your comments
FOXHUNTER1
Good luck with your quest for boar Andy .........I personally would have gone for a .308 much sweeter to use but they all do the job in the end I suppose. I shot this boar with a .308 ...................
camokid
dead's is dead mark just came down to choice... i think the 270 dont get the use as much so buying second hand i found i got a better gun with hardly any use . its mint wheres your face you not that bad looking mate.. wicked boar was he uk? there is a chap up north with a load on the sd site.. it will happen one day just not sure when
moor man
Well done :good:on a nice old buck. Maybe the .270 is out of fashion but dead is dead and if you can manage the bark and bite of this gun then good on you. Nice job on the stock, theres some nice grain there, what did you use on it? jason kaye
Cracking rifle mate and in one of the best cals (IMO) I've had two BSA cf 2's both in .270 and wished I'd never had sold them,if I was to get another it would definitely be another .270, it might be an old fashioned cal ,but in my opinion is far superior to the .308, nice buck by the way. Jase.

grasshopper
Fine looking Buck Andy, you forget just how loud these rifles are when you use them without a Mod. Keeper had a .270 in Tikka T3 where i was in Oxfordshire last week and he swears by it. Just dropped my application in for another .243 at Police HQ then went straight to the gunshop to order it (Sako 85 Hunter) once i get it and sell my current .243 will use the slot for a bigger cal, thinking about a ,30 06. You've certainly had some good shooting of late, well done mate.
