peek-at
dont think you can go far wrong with AirArms 410/510 or Rapid7 You dont mentions your budget....if you have more you could look at Daystate but I do think the above mentioned rifles give a bit more value for money. good luck

Davyo
As peek-at said you wont go wrong with AA My mates just gettin a AA410 classic second hand & what a well balanced bit of kit i think it pushes out about 32lb & grouping 5mm at 30mtrs.( i zeroed it) His 1st outing on his perm he bagged 21 rabbits, he is well chuffed.Paid £350 for it.I used to have the FAC BSA S10 again 5mm groupings but what a bulky lump. malkiserow
Is a barrel shroud as good as a moderator on FAC? I am looking to use it quietly
chrisjpainter
Is a barrel shroud as good as a moderator on FAC? I am looking to use it quietly In my experience, even at sub 12 levels, a shroud is not as effective as a decent mod. I've got to say though, that the combination of the two is a winner. The shroud + mod makes my air wolf almost silent. With FAC guns, it's definitely more useful to have a mod on the end. A shroud will only do so much, so it's worth putting a mod on the end. It'll add a bit of length, but it's worth it. Edited August 21, 2013 by chrisjpainter
NIGHT SEARCHER
Have a look at the Hatsan AT 44-10W. Walnut stock. £265. new. I got one in sub 12 ftlb and was that impressed with it for the money. You get an air gauge. 2 x 10 shot mags. And Walther match barrel. So i phoned Edger Brothers to see what was the score with an FAC one. A new AT 44 Rifle with an fac strike valve and transfer port doing 28 to 30 ftlb. £320. What can i say both Rifles are outstanding for the money. I have Daystates. BSA R10. AA 410. 3x Loguns. But for a very accurate and reliable workhorse the Hatsan are very hard to beat. Have a look at the Hatsan BT65 its a bigger gun with a bigger air tube. More shots per fill.
snipper
in fac its a case of what you drop across as they dont bring much money as sub 12ftlb ..... career 707 is a good bet as they were built for fac
vampire
Go for the aa 510,we have .22lr /.17hmr and the fac air gets used the most, cheap to feed, very accurate,30 good shots per fill and not wanting to get into a range war,but this rifle shoots further than you would think, well beyond that of a 12ftlb rifle and the stopping power has to be seen to beleive it. Very interesting Vampire, I love my .22 rimie and currently use that the most... .but maybe that will change? steve_b_wales
Is a barrel shroud as good as a moderator on FAC? I am looking to use it quietly I have an S410 FAC. It has a barrel shroud, but I found that it didn't help make the rifle any quieter. I purchased a push on adapter so that I could fit a SAK moderator. Now, it's very quiet when using it. bullet boy
An Air Arms S410 with extended cylinder is a good option but a secondhand Rapid would be my choice for more shots per charge. ATB.
Deke
I have a Career 707 Carbine and a Sumatra Carbine (different calibres) and I run both at around 30fpe. The Careers are built like a tank and all you should ever need to change is an o ring or two. Should any other spares be needed for a Career (unlikely if it has been looked after) sourcing them might be difficult. Although te build quality of the Sumatra is not in the same league as a Mk2 Career it is still an excellent gun. I've had mine for six years without any problem arising. Both of my guns will group in under 20mm at 50m which I think is not too shabby. Edited August 23, 2013 by Deke
