Cal Crutchlow

It would be a surprise to see a non-factory bike win.

Wish I could afford to see Scott Redding at Silverstone but I'm buying a new shotgun. With Cal, Scott and Bradley Smiff it's one of the best seasons for British riders in a long time. :good:

Who'd have thought that  tries too hard, always tries to ride beyond his capabilities, it's one thing to put a few fast laps in to take pole and another to keep it going for a full race when there's others to fight with, personally I can't stand him and the sooner he go's to Ducati to finish his career the better.

Hear hear,,he's just a big mouthfull of excuses for poor performances. No wonder Yamaha wouldnt give him a factory bike. Smith looks like a far more rounded talent !

Bit harsh, he is without a doubt the best GP rider we have had for years!

Unfortunately,,the best we have had for years isn't quite the complement it sounds like !!

:good: +1 on that, if he's the best we've had for years then then Britain wants to keep away from MotoGP they just haven't got the talent to back up their mouths, it's every excuse in the book if things don't go their way, the reason I can't stand Crutchlow is for what he did to his fans regarding the brake situation when Doviziso was beating him week in week out, he was just a complete tool.

He is by far and away the best GP rider we've had in years and by far the most successful. He has been pretty much the best of the rest consistently, as is shown by the fact that he is 5th in the current standings behind 4 full factory bikes...

...and yet people still feel the need to criticise him. He's in the business to race bikes, not be a nice guy or make friends! To be honest, I hope he does make the Ducati work and that he wins races on it, time will tell.

Typical of us Brits actually, always looking to knock a success story down. What should be happening is support!

Met him a couple of times at Silverstone when I was instructing.

Actually a really nice guy and back then not big headed at all.

He's doing well in Moto GP but I doubt he'll win any titles.

He'll be another Colin Edwards, consistant nearly man

Couldn't agree more.

That's the point, he's doing great against factory bikes and he's beating lots of other talented riders, including Rossi. He always said that if he could get away at the front then he'd be able to stay with the factory bikes. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Bradley Smiff has been consistently good too. Pity he's just dropped out of the top 10.

For a long time now there's not really been much point in the rest of the field racing. They might as well just put two Honda's and two Yamaha's out there.

I much prefer Moto2 & Moto3 for competitiveness.

I can't remember any trouble with the fans, what do you mean?

I can't remember any trouble with the fans, what do you mean?

It started when Dovizioso was beating him regularly and Cal got into his head that it was the new brakes that Dovizioso had , Yamaha said they couldn't afford the uprated brakes that Dovizoiso had bought himself, so Cal moaned that he couldn't afford to buy them himself (only being a MotoGp rider) so his fans had a whip round to pay for his new brakes ,you know people with highly paid jobs such as window cleaners ,bin men ,you know normal people and then when he still couldn't beat him once he had the new brakes he said it can't be the brakes it must be something else and ditched them, thats what I mean when I said it's every excuse in the book rather than the truth that he just isn't good enough.

Having raced open class 250 Gp bikes in the mid '90s(in UK ) I can say that talent will only get you so far, equipement the rest of the way.I like Cal,but I'm disapointed with his constant crashing,he is pushing too hard on the kit he has.It would be interesting to see if Marc Marcess would be so awesome if he didn't have that ride.I heard that HRC made him some new fork clamps to flex more to keep the forks slightly less lent over in the corners because how far he's lent over.can't see that sort of help being passed Cal's way.the cost to develop those along would be huge
