Luckyshot Posted August 25, 2013 Report Share Posted August 25, 2013 Hi all went out last night with the trusty 22 and my archer nv. Due to there being a lot of rabbits about this year I decided to go to the same 3 fields that I have shot the last 2 weeks. I was using my small torch to see where the rabbits where then changing to the nv to shoot, when I arrived at the first field I managed to shot 23 rabbits before I had even got out of the van . I collected and gutted those and then I was off in search for more. This didn't take long as the fields were lifting with rabbits and I went on to shoot a further 22 rabbits (all I can carry at once) and took them back to the van. This carried on until I had shot 89 rabbits which wasn't bad for 3 hours of shooting as most of the time was taken gutting them all and carrying them back to the van. When it came to the last lot of 22 I couldn't be bothered to go back up the hill to collect them so the final take home bag was 67 which is still a decent amount, only problem is now my freezer is full and no one wants any luckily I've a nice fire on one of my local farms. Is'nt there someone with birds of prey near you, eg, a bird santuary, like I have local to me? The owner will take any rabbits I can spare. The owner will take any rabbits I can spare. 1 of my mates breeds birds of prey has about 6 in at the moment but he can only use so many rabbits a week. I already supply him but his freezers are also full as there are a lot of rabbits on my farms they often go to waste as the farmer wants them gone regardless he's not bothered what happen to them. I try to give them away if I can but in the last 2 weeks I've shot over 200 rabbits and my ferrets can only eat so much. We are just starting to get our yearly dose of mixi on this farm so that will clear a few off. Cracking bag again Ryan , I will have a look out with you and carry some rabbits if you want ? I was knackered felt like leaving all of them but then that would just be taking the water. I've had the chance to sell them before but for me personally that would spoil my shooting as I shoot because I enjoy it and would feel under pressure if I needed to shoot them for money.
