PUSC
I've got a wasps nest that's turned up under the eaves in my attic. They're starting to drop into the house and the Mrs is going spare trying to avoid the damn things. Is it worth calling out a pesty at this time of year or are they going to swarm and ****** off elsewhere?
hawkeye
I had one in an air brick just near the back door. As soon as to was dark i sprayed it with a type of foam wasp killer the foam filled the air brick but by morning it had all gone and no sign's of the wasps.. I think one or the ******* escaped as i got stung on the arm while playing golf last week ......revenge
stubby
wasp's don't swarm, bees do
bruno22rf
You can buy Wasp nest destroyer from most Supermarkets now so just wait till its dark and squirt the nest-the cans have a couple of metres range so you don't need to be up close and personal. If you don't you are asking for more nests and increase the chances of you or anyone nearby of being stung.
discodog
It will die off if you leave it , but before the Queen dies she hatches out new Queens that will start new nests again next year. So get shut of it now to save the hassle, Call out your local Pest controler, Should cost Around £ 35 -£
njc110381
Just buy a can of wasp nest destroyer and give it a good blast. I've done loads this year, most of which in spite after being stung by one or more of the colony!
PUSC
right gonna have a go at them later tonight. Because its under the roof its gonna need a ladder, which isn't the best thing when being stung cheers for the advice.
Gimlet
I've got a thatched roof and I get them in there. Just got rid of one right next to the bedroom wndow. The powder works a treat. Give the entrance a good dusting. Do it after dark and avoid shining a light which stirs them up.
Paddy Galore!
right gonna have a go at them later tonight. Because its under the roof its gonna need a ladder, which isn't the best thing when being stung cheers for the advice. is it not within 2m of a window? might be easier to lean out of a window and squirt rather than up the ladder, firstly you'll be aiming up so some is bound to come back down on you, second if there's any just floating around near the nest then you're in a difficult situation if they get the hump. PUSC
yeah but the window is tiny so Id be hanging out and upside down so probs not suitable have just killed 5 in the last 30 mins that are coming in through the gaps in the windows.... might put them under "how many wasps have PW members killed this year" thread

clakk
had one in our caravan the rentokil spray destroyed them good n proper vile pointless creatures.daughters had em in her garden foam spray and raid ,they drop soon as raid hits and its good to get rid as theyre very agressive at the moment
stubby
probably around 50,000 plus wasp nest destroyer can normally be squirted from around 15ft away, far better to look in attic to see if you can spray the nest from there, as it'll soak into nest more, rather than just hitting an entrance hole from outside, which may be no where near the actual nest
88b
I had one in the shed, they made the nest in a cardboard box, I managed to get it into the garden and empty it then sprayed the queen

Clayduster
Be careful they know where exposed flesh is and will go straight for the face, you need to take action as they will get more aggressive in the next couple of weeks. Wasp nest destroyer foam shot from 8 feet is good it gives you time to fall off the ladder and knock yourself unconscious before the ******** sting you. Keep a spare door near you, they might kick that through instead.

PUSC
right, had a bash at trying to get near it. Haven't got a chance. Anyone got a pest controller near Bath/Bristol you'd recommend?
Dekers
Ficam D is the staple of most Pest controllers. Get a local firm to do it not a national firm, some charge silly money, you should get a guarantee from anyone too. My wasp nest removal is guaranteed for a one time fee, most commonly £50, sometimes more for the really awkward ones. norfolk dumpling
Rentokil foam spray. Used 2 cans. Huge nest in thatched roof - size of cows stomach. Neighbour , teacher in junior school, took it to show kids and it did the rounds of a few schools because of size and fabulous structure. Ours was some years ago at that time we just phoned up the council pest control department if they still have one.
