oscarsdad Posted August 28, 2013 Report Share Posted August 28, 2013 I use 1/2 in my auto for pretty much everything including decoying, but my mrs has a little skeet gun with both barrels choked at skeet and I have successfully used that for decoying and roost shooting with no problems as all. My game gun is CYL and 1/4 and has no problems taking down pheasants and grouse so I see no reason why the skeet choke should not be successful for you as long as you shoot them at sensible ranges. ditchman Posted August 28, 2013 Report Share Posted August 28, 2013 when i had my old beretta 26" mod 303........just used 1/4 choke all the time...as oscarsdad says ..sensible ranges....up to 35yds or so...different cartridges pattern differently so suck it and see... remmyman Posted September 3, 2013 Report Share Posted September 3, 2013 3/4 for me, if you want to achieve adequate pattern density at range, you NEED choke as ballistic tables/pattern plate will prove. nagantino Posted September 7, 2013 Report Share Posted September 7, 2013 My Mossberg 500 is fixed Cylinder and drops birds just fine. Be sensible with range. I'm relaxed about choke now. When I drop a bird with the Cylinder choke i congratulate my skills on being a great shot, when I miss its the Cylinder chokes fault.
