Like the one three weeks ago this chap shoots game but has not shot many pigeons.

The field was spring barley stubble with the bales still in it. The flight line was the very best I have. There was however a twist in that the flight line was very wide today, infact two fields wide which made choosing a position very difficult. Once I had established two hides by pushing bales together the flight lines went very wide of us to some distant field over which I do not have the shooting.

By 3pm we had shot 30 or so but when the return line started up it came straight across the field we were in and many passed within shooting distance of the hides. This was pigeon shooting at it's very best with shots at birds coming down wind at all sorts of heights.

My companion was struggling with the sheer speed of the birds and ended up with 10 for 60 shots. The final bag was 78 pigeons and 1 Jackdaw.

We packed up at 5:30 just as three tractors with trailers behind pulled into the field to take the bales. Tomorrow would have been too late.
