yickdaz
not posted for a while in here still been going out but the stubbles are not offering much up at the min getting 20, 30 bags, one reason is by the time we and I have been trawling around the land we shoot which spread out over a 20 mile stretch to find anything worth having a go at only squeezing a few hrs shooting in would be great if we found them on the first field we looked at and could give them a good 5 or 6 hrs but that's not the way it works most of the time also they are not on our land in any real numbers to cough up bigger bags but still getting a few shots off here and there todays bag was a little better I only went out late today and found birds on a local perm and get this it was the first place I looked at set up by 2pm on the barley stubble it very slow at first 11 down in the first hour and half then it went mental for the next hour and half dropping in from all angles another 39 added in that time then it just went dead about 5pm so I packed and picked up 50 and a jackdaw lost another 5 in standing beans and to the woods after being hit so a little better today Edited September 7, 2013 by yickdaz

turbo33
That's good enough Daz I was chatting to Bluebarrels about how pointless the decoying is at the moment round here. What promised to be a bumper year has not happened and with the odd exception, no-one seems to be getting any reasonable bags. So 20-30's are pretty good bags mate

yickdaz
Them bags are sound Daz, I could have gone today, it said heavy rain, tell you mate, its hardly rained at all up here. I know I was expecting it because it went very grey around here at dinner time had a few light showers when I was in the hide but it was warm and sunny for most of it like I keep saying to you never trust the weather forecast 100%
JDog
I am pleased that you found some today. If you are keen and knowledgeable as you are you will get them in the end. Fifty is very creditable this harvest.

aga man
good write up daz and nice to see your posts again. things will turn around soon enough they always do. can't say we have had any big bags but sport here has been ok. we took 240 pigeons to the gamedealer this week [which we have saved in a freezer] and he said people have been taking some big bags 200+ [fresh birds] in to him over recent weeks so some are having a good harvest. pigeon controller
Well done Daz, your doing the hard work and finding the birds. This year has to be the most difficult for Pigeon shooting as nothing is as the normal way . We are lucky in that the birds we are getting are resident in the city and fly out to gorge themselves on the stubbles at present. When I say the city these are areas of old houses with large tree lined gardens which are ideal breeding grounds for the resident Pigeons. Keep at it and you will have your bumper bags again.
