delburt0
And the scary thing is that with an attitude like this, in all likelihood you have guns. my own family's safety against a bunch of cavemen is paramount I would rather be convicted of running over someone than having 100 angry grebos attacking me, ps mr mongrel I did at no point say anything about guns so the insinuation is quite uncalled for , if you want to put your family before a biker that got run over for his own stupidity then you crack on kind sir x
-Mongrel-
I would do everything I could to ensure that nobody get run over that's for sure! Whereas you stated that you would try and run over as many as possible, rather than defuse the situation. That, Mr delburt is uncalled for, and the kind of comment I'd expect from an 18 year old herbert, rather than a supposedly responsible adult. I would not swerve on purpose and as far as defusing the situation something tells me they didn't want to give him a kiss, and I am sure that I would not have been stopping to double check x Edited October 3, 2013 by delburt0
Hamster
This guy got caught in a very bad place at a very bad time, no rhyme or reason to what any one of us would do except go where blind panic takes you in a bid to save your family. Dissecting the scenario and thinking you'd have done this or that is just pointless as we simply do not know what really happened beforehand and the nature of the threats he faced that led to his flight impulse. Cosd
Obviously we didn't see everything that went on but that pr4tt who thought he was clever trying to slow the RR down seems the catalyst to all the events that followed. And what gave them all the right to stop in the middle of a highway just because one of the bikes was bumped? The ones that were injured only have them selves to blame. It was there own decision to place themselves in the line of fire. I would have done the same thing if my family were in the car and I thought they were in danger. If that guy had got out the car, got stabbed and killed everyone would be saying why didn't he just drive straight through the bikers to get away and protect his family. He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Well done him I say.

maxus77
Latest news on this take from sky news NYC Biker Brawl: Motorcyclist Appears In Court A motorcyclist has been charged with reckless driving after he apparently sparked a confrontation between a motorist and bikers that ended with three people being injured. The driver of the black Range Rover, Alexian Lien, was allegedly beaten up by the group after he had reportedly driven over one of the bikers, Edwin Mieses, during an attempt to get away. Mr Lien, 33, who was in the SUV with his wife and two-year-old child, needed stitches on his face but his family was unhurt in the Manhattan incident. Mr Mieses' legs were broken and he has spine injuries that will leave him paralysed, his wife said. Christopher Cruz, 28, of New Jersey, is the only person to be charged in the case. He is also accused of unlawful imprisonment and has denied all allegations as he appeared in court. A second man arrested after surrendering to police was not prosecuted, the Manhattan district attorney's office said. The New York incident was caught on a helmet-mounted camera worn by a biker and was posted online anonymously. Prosecutors and police said Cruz was taking part in a motorcycle rally speeding along Manhattan's West Side Highway. Cruz cut in front of a black Range Rover and, still staring at its driver, slowed down so much that the rear tyre of his bike bumped the front of the SUV, they said. He got out and approached the SUV, prosecutors said. A video captured the moment as about two dozen riders slowed down, swarming the SUV and blocking its path. Some got off their bikes and approached the vehicle. Police said a number of them began damaging the Range Rover. The driver, who police say was frightened for his family in the car, suddenly lurched forward, driving over another rider before heading north. The motorcyclists chased the motorist for about 2.5 miles and got the SUV to stop. The chase ended when the SUV left the highway and was stuck in traffic. The video showed one biker using his helmet to smash the driver's window. Police said the group then pulled the man from the SUV and beat him, although that part is not shown on the recording posted online. The biker who may never walk again, Ed Mieses, is the one hit by the car as it sped away, his wife Dayana said. He suffered broken legs, fractured ribs and spine injuries, according to his family. At least one other biker was injured in the incident. Mr Mieses, known as Jay Meezee, is an aspiring rapper from outside Boston, and he and his wife have two teenaged children. "There's no hope for his back," Mrs Meises told reporters outside hospital. "They crushed his spine. They broke it in two different places, so he will be forever, forever paralysed." "My husband got off his bike to help the guy," she said of the confrontation. "When you look at the video you can see he (the driver of the car) is running over something. It's not just a motorcycle, it's a human being that was under there." Police say Mr Lien had called 911 to report the bikers were driving erratically, and reported being scared for his wife and child. He has not been charged, but police are still investigating. Penelope
Something wet on before the film footage, look at Cruz, the rider who was involved in the initial contact at the onset of the film, he is riding alongside the RR, looking into the car, he then pulls in front and slows down, that's when the first contact is made. What we don't know is what lead up to Cruz's actions. I'm with the RR driver all the way. The bikers, nothing but a rapid pack. Also, given the number of supposed or wanna be rappers that have been reported as being present, the RR driver is lucky they didn't pop a cap in his ***. always two sides to any story and think we only getting one and a half Edited October 3, 2013 by Penelope

malkiserow
They are probably all at fault but there is little point of taking the Victor Meldrew approach about being 'right' and ending up in hospital or a morgue. Edit, I am presuming there is an altercation before the camera was rolling. It is a lesson about how things can go horribly wrong very quickly. Monkey Nuts
Think the guy in the Range Rover did what most would have done, especially with your child in the car. I am sure he never set out to run over anybody. If he felt his/his families life was in danger then he took action accordingly.

superspark
Well I guess the rangie driver was too scared to stop with all those bikers there. I do not see why they had to try and pull him out of his car when they could of just followed him reporting his where a bouts to the police. Being America where almost every one carries hand guns I am surprised that the first biker to try and smash his way in to his cab didn't get shot for his troubles. How far would you go to defend your family from these bikers??? If it were me I know exactly what I would do and its called self defence

Danoi99
I bet many people who were involved will be regretting their actions that day. Sad for some poor soul who is led on a hospital bed wondering why they evn got out of bed that day. I am a biker and do understand the fury you would feel after seeing yer buddy get smashed off his or her bike..............but chasing some dude for ages then pulling him out the car in front of his wife ? Bang out of order !!!! I'm sure that in the heat of the moment that guy was terrified. Years ago I was driving a van, I pulled out of a picnic area ( not a dogging site you rascals ) A woman on a Harley came screaming around the bend and nearly smashed into the back of me....................we stopped at the next junction and she came alongside and started F'ing and Blinding..............I told her she was a stupid cow etc, Then all the other bikes turned up, They surrounded me and I got dragged out the van and given a pretty good beating..........I went unconcious for a bit, scary aint the word !!!! Just glad I didn't pee my pants !!!! ( ok......i did a tiny wee wee ) Fear makes you do funny things............I had about 10 or 12 bikers steaming into me that day...............I bet being chased by over 100 bikers is truly terrifying !!!!! He should have stayed at the original scene IMHO

Danoi99
This editing malarkey is a giggle. That experience sounds terrifying! Did any prosecutions come of it? Guessing there was no lasting damage? Good edit sir ( It was begging for it ) Lasting effects, just a clicking shoulder. It made me want to be able to defend myself better though........so i took up Freestyle Kickboxing, then Ju-Jitsu.....and recently studied Kung-Fu in Asia for a year. I am also skilled with knives and swords ( Katana ) I have one hell of a weapons collection. Now collecting guns !!!! I now teach Physical Intervention Techniques to people that work in the mental health sector. Would love those bikers to have a pop now ( they must be in their 70's now ) I would muller them in no time.....beat them with their zimmer frames !!!!! So no lasting damage........but a turning point no doubt. They made me the man I am today...........a good kicking can put you on a bit of a path sometimes!
