Blakloks
Malmo guns were saying they reckon the new batch of these will not be as good as the first batch that came out, has anywhere got the new batch of these Edited October 4, 2013 by Blakloks
misser
why do they reckon that?
Alfieri
If they are still pushing the same speeds as sates they should still be a good cartridge . If the speeds have slowed down it may be adifferent thing altogether.
Blakloks
We're they not over pressured the last time
DNS
If I remember correctly the first batch were subject to a recall, which I think was from them being over pressure. What Malmo mean - I suppose - is thet the next batch will be correct, and therefore lower pressure. What I do know is that I've been waiting forever for the damn things. Ordered from my RFD six weeks ago and it's always 'next week, maybe the week after'. With all the focus on non-toxic this year I'd have thought thay Eley would have got their finger out
figgy
Typical they will get them out at end of the season. One of the worst companies I've had to contact, e-mailed numerous times for info on stockists of the Lightning carts and got no reply after weeks and a few calls eventually got through to some one who could tell me the Rfd in my area who can stock them as non of them had ever stocked them. Spoke to the Rfd and said ill have them next week with my next order, still waiting three weeks later after due date. Told them of un replied e-mails, lo and behold got a e-mail back then telling me same as phone call. Just not good enough service. If they don't perform aswell as they state on the box they might aswell not bother at all, hope Malmo are wrong. Figgy
silver pigeon 3
Personally i think the whole Eley lightning thing is a load of rubbish! Brought out as a wonder cartridge then rubbish supply, followed up by Eley stopping sales and now they are meant to be releasing them again but nowhere has any. I use the gamebore steel and have yet to have any reason to change, and i can get them easily.

And they never even said sorry for all the hassle they put us through. Actually we have still have not been refunded and this started months ago!! Game bore all the way for me now, I get on really well with their super steel.
Guest cookoff013
gamebore have an awsome nontoxic lineup. they are at the forefront of steel loads.
Barls2-9-12
I must say i can't really fault gamebore on any of there loads. I have been using some 3" express 36g no4&3 steel i had left from a while back and they seem to be ok as well.
ayano3
I purchased some Gamebore Super Steel 2 3/4" 3's and I have been impressed with them on all duck, even on the foreshore. I do have Remington Sportsman BBB and Mammoth Steel for geese but when the Remington's have all gone I will be using pretty much all Gamebore loads. I actually used some of the old Lightning Steel from Eley that someone suggested I try as they couldn't hit anything with them last week on the wash. I was impressed as in 3 shots I had 2 duck, one very high mallard. If the new revised ones do become readily available I would be tempted to give them a go. figgy
I use the Gamebore range of steel and think they are fantastic cartridges for the price, but as we all know steel needs speed so the Eley Lightning looked worth a try after some favourable comments off folk on here who tried them. Unless I'm looking for more carts this season and their on the shelf when i go I won't bother. Figgy
Tedward
Talking to my local gun shop Friday last, and was told that Eley had only that week completed a run of Lightning steel loads. If true, - could be arriving at a store near you, soon - maybe ! cheers, Tedward.
Big Mat
I was told that eley had made them and they would be in stock within the next week or two at the shop i use!
fenntay
It will be interesting if someone chronos some of the older lightning s against he new batch to see if there is any difference in speed. I still have a few of the old batch and rate them very highly.
figgy
Hope someone does chronny them. Might save people a few quid. Figgy

Figgy I know of one person who chrono'd them last time and he said they did not make anywhere near quoted speeds.

fenboy
I picked a couple of boxes of these today to try , at £9 a box less than half the price of the remington hi speed I have been using and allegedly about 100fps quicker, so hopefully they will be ok and missing will become cheaper Interestingly the retailer told me that the batches that were recalled last year were nothing to do with being over pressure but about the wads, the ones he sent back were tested and there were no problems with them . fenboy
And they work, as well. One of the pinks I shot last Sunday was killed with the No.1s. Well if they do me ok I cannot see me going back to remington at £27 a box ! having said that a box should do me about 12 seasons at my current rate of fire , the only thing I got tonight was plenty of exercise and wet
