unapalomablanca
I want to go out on my dinghy before the winter sets in. I don't really want to drive to the coast. Where can I go legally, in the home counties. Its just a little 30 quid job, but my nephew and niece love it. Any help would be appreciated. una. Chris Bb
Looking at Google maps there appear to be a lot of lakes/resevoirs in the Cheshunt & Bedford regions. Maybe some of these are used for boating?
Lord Geordie
You may need to license the craft before you use it! The broads and canals I know you do, but am unsure of the thames!

Axor
You can go up to Huntingdon, I launch my Kayak from there and its a nice easy paddle. There is a really good car park and public slip way on Riverside Road. Please stay safe and make sure you have the right safety equipment, there's no RNLI on the Ouse
unapalomablanca
Well I went dinghying to Hove in Sussex, and have just got in. It was great, weather was superb, sea was safe and the nephew and niece loved it. Hove aint a bad place either, plenty of dough down there, fatboy slim territory. That's me and the coast finished until the spring. regards. una.

Thus, locally, it's known as "Hoveactually" Plus the parking must have cost you more than the petrol!

Penelope
EA navigation licence and insurance required on the Thames. All navigable rivers require an Environment Agency Nav licence. The Thames? The only pits in the Cheshunt/Lea valley area that allow boating are for the resident sailing clubs. Looking at Google maps there appear to be a lot of lakes/resevoirs in the Cheshunt & Bedford regions. Maybe some of these are used for boating?
