Squash wavy
Just to give a quick review on these for those searching. Bought for a little under £40 a slab. They are a budget cartridge. Bought them in 28g number 8 format. They give quite a whack of recoil compared to my preferred Lyalvale HV or Sporting Supplies own brand. Also they leave the bores extremely dirty. I will avoid in the future.
Gordon R
Plastic wads are fine. No dirt - no thump. Used a box this morning.
Squash wavy
Yeah I am finding that myself. Got some Olympics too which are of course plastic. But I like the flexibility of fibre wads if there's any restrictions but mainly I just like to be as green as possible. Sad I know.
bostonmick
i use first fibres on skeet no kick through my guns,i also use them on some of the closer sporting targets,as for cleaning it only takes a few minutes more to clean and no dirtier than other fibre wads i have used. Paladin
Sporting Supplies could have been Eleys, as they used to load for them a couple of years back.
HDAV
NEver have got this "dirty" thing does it effect the performance? I have shot loads of firsts mostly plas only issue with fibre is the odd dose of confetti not that it impedes the breaking of the clay IMO
grahamch
Have used plenty of fibre firsts in 28 and 24g 7.5s without any problems, find them a good performing sensibly priced load. Seem to work ok on walked up pheasants too.
Squash wavy
Just takes markedly longer the clean up. Sporting Supplies are definitely Lyalvale. Packaging and case give it away. This in recent times mind.

I use them all the time in 7.5's fibre....Kill no problem at all....I have had 1 miss fire in 10 slabs...re the dirt just clean the gun!! OvEr_KiLL
eley first fibres, dirty as hell and sometimes a bit of confetti flys out, you get what you pay for
Del T
Normally use first 24g fibre all the time, nice soft recoil but yes they are dirty. Can't say I've noticed too much confetti but lately they must have changed something because our guns are covered in green speckles (same colour as the writing on the carts) and it gets everywhere. Stock , fore end and the barrels.!
Ttfjlc
I have used a slab of 24g fibre firsts in 7.5, recoil was not really noticeable but I have to agree after using so many at grimsthorpe that they leave behind a lot of debris! Floating Chamber
Just takes markedly longer the clean up. Sporting Supplies are definitely Lyalvale. Packaging and case give it away. This in recent times mind. Not always. They buy from Eley, too. I have some here.
Dekers
Firsts work for me on many levels, they can be dirty and all manner of confetti can appear out of the barrel. I have never found them to have any recoil issues, they work, and in todays market can be considered cheap!
Squash wavy
That's interesting Floating Chambers. Have you tried the new 26g they are selling? Brand name is 'Smooth' ?
Squash wavy
Just to follow up. Used the Eley Olympic in plaswad and very clean barrels, despite 200 shots going through the Fausti...
HDAV
Just to follow up. Used the Eley Olympic in plaswad and very clean barrels, despite 200 shots going through the Fausti... Did you check after every shot?
Squash wavy
Not every shot but ever ten. Started off on 25 firsts and then moved over to the Olympics. At my current shop, Olympics are only £1 a slab more. Well worth the extra
HDAV
I have shot olympics great cart for semis as 70mm case so cycles well an old recipe!
OvEr_KiLL
yup, olympics are well known with trap shooters as they are good, cheap and clean.. i used to use them when i started shooting, they only do them in plastic wad though...if i had a choice of eley first plastic and the olympics cost slightly more then i would go for the olympics any day!
