Lloyd90
Been this week and bought a Summit Stalker High Seat from Sportsman Gun Centre. Will have it up in place on the weekend and should be sat up in it asap :-) Just wondering how effective they actually are ?I know from my game cam that deer frequent the spot I have picked, yet every time I go n sit out down there am failing to spot any :-(
r1steele
Deer tend not to look up that high and it also takes your scent away from the level that the deer are at so any scent being blown about should (not always but most of the time) be high enough above them that they don't know you're there. They can spot movement from a long way off so even sitting out for them means they may have spotted you without you even knowing they were there at all. They are much less likely to see movement in a high seat but staying as still as possible is still the best bet. You want to be into the highseat before it gets light if you're out in the morning and a good bit before it gets dark if out in the evenings (check you trail camera times). Good luck at the weekend. Kes
I made one for shooting foxes - had double digits from it (and fox)
kent
Very much the thing when its not a definite enough wind for stalking on foot. Get into it a lot earlier than you think in the morn and leave a lot later in the evening

chipper
Very +2, i reckon i shoot over 80% from a high seat. Downside, is it can get cold. other option, i got a mate to build a shed on stilts (using scaffolding), kind of like a bird watching tower. Problem was, it was so comfy nodded off one evening, when i woke up, it was dark...
mick miller
Location is key. I have a portable seat, several times I have shot fallow within an hour of setting it up!

Someone should tell our fallow, they look straight up at the high seats, roe don't seem to bother though

Scully
We built one in a tree which is great for bunnies and deer, and bought another from the Bush Wear catalogue which we can move around for baiting foxes.Works well.
243win
They are very effective but you must be patient. Yesterday evening I took a fox and twenty minutes later a young roe buck I had been after for two months stepped out twenty yards from the dead fox. Needless to say it was the last thing he did. Most of my stalking is done from high seats as the land is so flat around here. I find it very relaxing and rewarding. Enjoy.
