Will Poon
As the topic says how do you get a chance into owning a gun club for clay shooting and other shooting related sports. As some may know on here I'm in the food industry, quite similar to shooting clubs In this country as it ticks over in the week days and busy on the weekends . Does any one know what type of money is involved in this sport to start with and what can be achieved ? I'm looking forward to all comments

CZ550Kevlar
Nothing to stop you opening a new one with a bit of investment into traps etc, majority of your staff can be casual labour or pay them in clays for volunteering, that's the easy bit, finding land is easy if you have the money for the asking price. The hardest bit is obtaining the licence which means talking to Councils, both borough and county and I know from first hand insider knowledge they don't like giving out licences, all because of a few bangs. Will Poon
I've been shooting on and off for nearly 25 years but I've been with shotguns for the past year and a half . It would be a great to own my own clay club in the rural part of wherever it maybe

Malik
There is a few interesting pieces of documentation from the CPSA about forming a club. One of a few I've found https://www.cpsa.co.uk/userfiles/file/Booklet_3_Form_a_Club_Nov_2004.pdf

Gordon R
Thought about it, twenty years ago. We identified a couple of plots of land, but potential planning permission objections, due to noise, put us off. Rishton GC - established about 40 years have had objections and Holmfirth closed because of them. In both cases - objections from people who had moved into the area, well after the grounds had been established, but suddenly discovered the noise. VicW
Orston Shooting Ground is not advertised for sale,do a search and you won't find anything. The ground owner says it is not up for sale. Everything has a price, however,so if you approach Charlie Denoon with the right money ,who knows you may become a shooting ground owner but I reckon it'll be more than £M1.7. There's over 50 acres of land for a start, plus it is a successful going concern. Vic.

Will Poon
To buy a shooting club it's probably easier to look for one that's established and not doing that well, so you can offer a cheeky price for it
