Use one and only one cartridge RC jk6 36gm #6's

Use them on pheasant(rarely) but duck the whole time dont shoot pigeons as such but they do the job especially on the higher ones

When i used to shoot pigeons just used cheapy clay cartridges and they did the job perfect mostly saga's 28 with #7 1/2

Dont think it matters to much to be honest just get abit of practice in main thing is being consistant keep the same set up and dont change a thing till your hitting things

Pigeon/Rabbit Eley 6's in either 28/30 or 32 g Plastic wad

Pheasant Eley VIP's 6's in either 30/32 g Fibre wad

Duck Remington Nitro Steel 3" 46g Steel No 4's plastic wad

Geese Remington Nitro Steel 3.5" 54g Steel BB's plastic Wad

If Eley made cheap Steel Cartridges I'd use these as I prefer Eley over anything else i have tried (D&J, Lyevale, Rio, Gamebore, Hull, Baikel). I find that with Eley when I hit something it stays hit, not winged and they're not punchy like some cartridges as well as being a clean burning cartridge. Never had a misfire or hangfire because of them either. :/ :o

The Remington Steel I like, although it was because of price to be honest, but unlike other Steel these really seem to penetrate rather than bounce off. Not too harsh through the Browning Semi either :o

Cheers

SS :D

Hi guys do you think having a tighter choke decreases your chance of hitting domething or just increases how well the bird is hit and increases how many pellets are in the 30" circle.

i.e.

Quarter- more chance of a kill

Three Quarter- less chance of a kill

OR

Quarter- less well hit bird

Three Quarter- Bird hit very well

What are your opinions

Victory starlight 32g No 5 & 6. Also like Rio 32g 6's

Sometimes put 6's in bottom barrel a 5 in the top. Use starlights cos I think they are excellent long range cartridge. Bought a lot of Rio's cos they were on offer, but still a good load

I know Jim Albone the pigeon shooting professional used always shoot a gun Choked Full & Full and swore by it. However pigeon shooting is considered to be normally close range shooting and really it is personal preference as to what you find gives you the best clean kill ratio.

I stick to 1/4 in my auto.

1/4 & 1/2 in everything else.

I have experimented with it all over the years and I find that is the ones for me.
