Actionpigeons
This is for the old foggies on here. Lets have some old sporting pictures of you. I will kick it off, this could end up an interesting post. 1st one is of me in my first position as 1st whip to a pack of foxhound when I was in my late teens. 2nd is of me some time in the early 70s with my Redtail. JDog
Sorry Actionpigeons, my reference to 'cowboy' was the imagery of Simon6ppc riding around on a horse with a rifle. You looked very smart on your horse. Which hunt was that?

It is based in a small village called Wentbridge, just outside pontefract

demonwolf444
when you have the opportunity to do anything different or fun, you have to do it just because they make great stories. My sisters both have horses and one of my little sisters first ponies was a 13,2 dartmore, useless horse, but i loved it. When we were bringing them in from the field i used to ride her bare back half a mile home leading my older sisters 15,2. Used to love that and always felt in control, ( which i don't feel as soon as there is a saddle between me and the horse ), When i tried to canter things didn't work out so well. My sisters current horse is not afraid of guns at all and it a lovely sec D x TB ( i think ). I always joke he is my "stalking horse" as follows me round the field when i am going after rabbits and is no hindrance, i have taken a shot at a rabbit using him as a rest more than once, honestly i think he is just to lazy to be bothered to make a fuss about it. Have not tried him bare back yet, tempting but i'm not as fearless as i was when i was younger. Very smartly turned out horse there, i enjoy seeing the hunts out, sad that they made it illegal but to be honest in yorkshire noone cares either way, and we all know it. Actionpigeons
Disappointing, I would thought with the number of members on this site there would of been a no end of good old pictures of sporting days. Maybe too many just talking about it.

Frenchieboy
Here's one of me from around the late 70s. That was when I still had all my own teeth, hair on my head and muscles that were on my chest instead of slipped down around my stomach in an extremely relaxed state! . JDog
Yes that's a great picture Frenchieboy. In the vernacular parlance of my native Yorkshire you would have been termed 'a rum lad'.
