RossEM
Bought this Parker Hale a month or so ago. It only cost £220 and I'm convinced that I've had a good bargain here, as the design and build quality looks to be as good as a lower-end Browning. Had it checked by my gunsmith mate and he reckoned the condition is excellent and it's been well looked after. It does look almost new to me. He also said these Parker Hale guns are identical to the Winchester 101XTR made in the 1980s? Anyone have any more information about these guns? It's fitted with a Kickeez pad, has Birmingham proof marks, single selective trigger, 27" barrels with fixed chokes.

RossEM
I'm well pleased with it. Until I saw this one I had no idea these guns existed - I've found a few others online tonight and it looks like normally they go for £500-700!! Whitebridges
You have a good buy there. Looks like Miroku engraving?
RossEM
Could be - the engraving is pretty smart for a machine job. I really like the rounded pistol grip, really comfortable.
Gordon R
It will be choked 1/4 and 3/4. Game gun. You have got an absolute bargain - and I do mean absolute. £600 of anyone's money. Forget lower end Browning - the Winchester 101 - Parker Hale 800 series are top flight. It was made in the Winchester factory in Japan and is a Winchester 101 model. Edited November 24, 2013 by Gordon R

The reason mentioned Browning is that mine looks very similar apart from the trigger guard - I wonder if Japanese Brownings are built in the same factory as the Winchester/Parker Hale guns were? Gordon R
Not the same. Browning are built mainly at the Japanese Miroku factory. Winchester were made in Japan, but the factory only made Winchester, Shadow, Nikko and Parker Hale 800 series.
welshwarrior
Good gun there that's seriously under rated by many keeping the price lower than it should be IMHO but you sold that gun away.
gemini52
I had a parker hale 800 trap gun,i sold it this year to fund a new gun,bad mistake, they are so well built and handle great,i wish i had kept it,i sold it to a dealer for 350,if he still has it i might see if i can buy it back, you have the bargain of the year mate use it and enjoy it
Salmo9
Out of curiosity does the serial number start with a 'K' .? If so, me thinks it'll be of Japanese origin. I understand the company that made these top notch Winchester, Nikko, Shadow and Parker Hale series of O/U's ceased gun manufacturing and reverted back to car component build therefore later PH's etc were, I believe built in Italy.. RossEM
It does indeed start with K, but strangely the K is not on the barrels or fore end, just on the tang.
Salmo9
Assume all the numbers match up though..? If so, Well done Fella, looks like you've scored there. Not sure why the barrels and the fore-end are missing the vital K. Anybody any thoughts..?
RossEM
Yes, the rest of the numbers match. K might be for Kodensha, which seems to be the name of the factory
sidelockshooter
Looks like a nice little gun, well done! Kind of reminds me of my dad's little Browning 101. What's it shoot like?
RossEM
Shoots very well, I had a right and left of mallard with it last week. It's nice and light, and the shorter barrels make a big difference - seems to swing really well
