Some woodcock pics from the past few outings.

Though I would post up a couple of photos I have taken during a few recent outings. I has been a good season so far with regard to woodcock numbers and although I have limited time available this season I have been fairly successful. I don't take as many photos as I should when I'm out but I do take them when the opportunity arises. A couple of the middle ones are stills from a gopro camera hence the poor quality. The bottom photo was taken today. I had a very wet and windy but enjoyable walk this morning.

There is no end to ground around here for woodcock and getting permission is rarely an issue here in Ireland. I eat a few woodcock each week and the rest I take to work where there are always people waiting on them. Only downside about this is they have to be ready to cook before giving them in to work but i dont mind as it lets me shoot them and know they are being enjoyed. I usually just take the breasts off them and roast the little legs on their own. Very tasty snack. I mostly make pies stews and casseroles with them. Dont like the whole roast on toast idea.

Nice Benelli, I have a woodcock 2o bore, I find it a little light and flippy this season although have shot well previously. How do you find the 12 bore? Also what is the sxs? Great shooting by the way

Cheers folks, they sue ate a special little bird. The Benelli Woodcock is a great gun. It is just about 6lb weight in 12g and does feel quite like a toy. I cover a lot of miles in a season and its important to me. I have learned to shoot very well with it. The SxS is a strange on too. It an American Ruger, Gold Label. Also 12g and about 6lb. Its very versatile being single trigger multi choke. It 3" chambered and magnum steel proof too.
