bluesj
Hi all, I was thinking it may be fun to have a day at a rifle range with my son now and again, would also help to be able to get a bit more practice especially with the 243, but would also like to use my 17 and 22 (not sure if the 22 would be ok as it’s a semi auto). Got 3 nearish to me Bisley, Hythe and Lydd. Can some one point in the right direction, don’t really want to go down the club route only because I would only be using them to get use of the ranges and not giving any thing back to the club. Dekers
Are you an individual member of the NRA? Bisley...and many other ranges (and clubs) offer public open days, talk to the range office or look online!
JonathanL
In order to shoot an any MOD owned range (including Bisley) you must hold a Shooter Certification card. These can only be issued by clubs affiliated to the NRA for full-bore or the NSRA for small-bore. J.

It is also rare than any club probationer will get one very quickly, so the bottom line is there is plenty of opportunity to shoot at Bisley Without a SCC. And the NRA issue them directly as well, not just via other clubs! Edited January 1, 2014 by Dekers

Fisheruk
There are quite a good number of PW members who shoot at Catton in Derbyshire. The days are usually from February through to August to avoid the pheasant season. The PW weekend camp is one to look out for. £20 per day. Shoot as much as you like out to 400m. Also rimfire targets. A woodland walk with deer and fox cut outs. Looking forward to seeing the 2014 dates.

I'll keep an eye out for the dates this year as it'll be good to get out and pick up new tips from other shooters.
Fisheruk
Just had a message from Carl who runs the Catton Rifle Shoot and he is sorting out some dates with the estate. No doubt he will pass the info on as soon as sorted.

Dougy
A good shoot, and no intervention from the NRA.
Grandalf
A super place to go. A couple of drams then I have a sleep by a big camp fire at Catton Park every year. Some nice person always puts a blanket over me before they all go to bed. Shooting's not bad either...
Grandalf
Fruitloop might even put your tent up He damn near took it down last year... Who taught him to drive - Maybe he's better with a crane!
Fisheruk
Fruitloop might even put your tent up Hey mate, we are trying to encourage folk, not scare them off.
Fisheruk
He offers a fine erection service with or without his crane ;-) You are obviously talking about an experience I have not had. Still the banter around the camp fire is surely not to be missed. And the rifle shooting is probably the best around. Is that the Carlsberg speaking.
