Andy RV
That's not something I ever wish to experience again!! I'd been out for a walk around my permission this afternoon, the weather started off fine, bright with a good wind. This permission has a couple of fields that offer a great view over Shropshire and Cheshire, on a good day you can see over to Wales which is approx. 30 miles as the crow flies. After an hour the weather started to turn, a dark sky loomed on the horizon and quickly made it's way over, predominately to my north, soon the rumble of the thunder began and lightning followed. I watched the display in the distance from the highest point until I noticed some low dark clouds heading my way, time to go! Within a minute hail started then thunder and a flash rang out, you couldn't count between the thunder and the flash, it was that close! By this point I was running for my life with another 30 acres to cover, lightning was lighting up the sky all around me. As I reached the farm yard I felt an intense electrifying tingling throughout my body and lightning erupted across the sky directly above me, I threw the berreta in the boot, sod the slip, and jumped in the car in my wellies still on, I've never been so relieved to get back to the car. Never again! And I didn't shoot anything... Here's a frame from a video I was recording as I was walking away, the running started directly after this point! Medic1281
Cool, we just got caught on top of a hill in church stretton in the same sort of storm. Ended up getting soaked and having to walk nearly a mile to find a dog walker that had been taken ill.

fenboy
We have just had a terrific thunder storm here , but at least I was sitting indoors rather than down the marsh or somewhere ! My parents house got hit by lightning a few years ago , it did a hell of a lot of damage , took the insurance company over 6 months to repair it all. sitsinhedges
I had just reached the roost wood when I heard a couple of loud thunder claps to the north west followed by a few drops of rain starting to arrive. I decided to make a quick escape back to my van and just made it before the heavens opened and lightning was flashing all around. If I'd arrived 5 minutes earlier I would have been past the point of no return and stuck in the middle of it. Phew

misser
nice photo but don't think you've taken enough time and care in centralising the subject and levelling the horizon prior to taking
