ShropshireSam
Looking at improving my ear protection as I end up not wearing them all the time and now suffering from tinnitus (hopefully only temporary). Looking for passive moulded inserts...so either Emtec or Cens as the main contenders. Emtec are local to me so I can call in for a fitting and they are cheaper. Any reviews for Emtec - good or bad. All I have seen are good reviews so far.
markm
There was a thread a few days ago I commented on. Had emtec's for 10 years, work very well and do exactly as expected, still as good as new. 10/10 in my books....
Westley
I have used Emtech for some 10 years without any problems. Easily cleaned, comfortable to wear and an all round excellent product. The Company is also excellent to deal with, including after sales service. Just do NOT mention CENS. PLEASE.
alastair0903
But if you are ever thinking of upgrading to electric plugs then cens passive are the way forward as you can just buy the electrics and upgrade

SSS
Have a look at these a few people who i shoot with use them and say they are great http://www.auritech.info/products/shoot/ I've got a pair of these and they're pretty good for £20. Worth looking at.
malkiserow
I've got a pair of these and they're pretty good for £20. Worth looking at. Do you also have the moulded passive ones from either Cens or Emtech to compare the Auritech ones with? It would be very interesting if you have. SSS
I looked into them but never bought any. You have to have new moulds made every couple of years, and if you lose one then it's quite an expense. My uncle uses a pair of cens plugs so I'll get his opinion and come back to you. That would be great. I am keen to see what level of ambient sound and talking you can realistically hear. I assume both work well for gunshot noise reduction. SSS
The auritech work very well for gunshot noise. People's voices sound quite tinny but can still be heard very well. Incoming birds are a very faint sound and cannot be heard if the wind is blowing into your ears. The way I saw it was, they're £20. It's not a lot to lose if they are pants and at best, it's going to save my hearing.
JohnfromUK
I've had my Emtecs probably about 20 years. Not had to have new moulds made - and still fit perfectly. Recommended.

When I think about it my eldest son is coming up 12 and I had mine before he was born so probably 12+ years, never had new moulds taken and the rubber is still like new. Emtec's after sale is fab, I often lose a dust cps and they send them out FOC straight away. Last summer I thought I lost one and when I called them up they found my moulds in minutes, **** law within 5 mins of phoning I found it in the chair runner in my car. I was expecting a new one to be at least 1/2 the cost of a new set, if not more. If they weren't people would order a left then a right a few months later and you get a new set cheaper than the normal selling price..... Both of us are very happy with them and the service.
Cosd
They seem very similar to the CENS Passive plugs and having done lots of reading myself, they really do seem much of a muchness. I opted for the CENS and have been very pleased with both the product and the service. They do exactly what they claim, and that is cutting down the gunshot crack to a very comfortable level; Holding conversation in the hide, walkie talkie or a mobile is also possible without taking them out. Comfort wise, they are excellent and wearing them all day is not an issue. Only problem is remembering you have them on at the end of the day! Good luck with the Emtec's, let us know how you get on.
