morning gentlemen , I have a bit of I dilemma ..I currently use a 686 s and have a old webley side by side..both nice things to use but as I do a bit more pigeon shooting these days im going to get myself an auto..just coz its a bit less recoil and you get another go at em ....sometimes you get 3 opportunities in seconds so I think it time to get my self one.....money wise I really don't want to spend anymore than £350..and obviously don't mind second hand...so which one should I go for chaps....

over to you !

cheers

I bought my first semi 2 months ago after reading hundreds of opinions on PW. I eventually bought a s/h Hatsan Escort advertised on Gunstar. A friend advised I go for the latest model with extended chokes as they are less prone to jamming which mine is and so far has never let me down. Mine was as new, came with 5 chokes and in my opinion appears well made and with a budget of £350 if you go down the 2nd hand Beretta, Browning or Remington route you're buying something that is very well used and may well not have a full set of chokes.

If you could stretch into 500 you should have some better made and more recent SH guns to go at

If it was worn out, you wouldn't buy it. There are plenty around that have been well looked after and not been used too much. All of these guns are tried and tested, and built to last. Whether or not it has a full set of chokes is irrelevant.

I got a ten year old Browning Gold Sporting Clays for less than 300 notes and over the moon with it. I have to say I was tempted by a shiny new hatsan escort. And may get one at some point but the browning I will never part with. The Quality is obvious and far exceeds my abilities.
