HDAV
Is it like .22 etc i need reason and permission etc J Yep...some forces are happier than others to grant them
Brad93
Need to have a good reason, practical shotgun or a rookery are two examples. An FAC isn't just because you fancy one like with a SGC Edited February 10, 2014 by Brad93
Mossyoak77
It is correct current sufficient reason is either crop protection (corvids, pigeons etc), PSG I believe though as long as your either a member of NRA or home office approved club and have access to a local club that does the psg you can put down for one in that instance. one near me charges £10 for visitors. I was wanting to know myself if bolting bunnies and for foxes is sufficient reason as well ?
HDAV
IF you go PSG you may be conditioned to "targets" only....... I guess if you can justify why you need 8 shots at a bolting bunny or fox......
Mossyoak77
just pest and vermin control then covers everything but dont some forces list fox as seperate?
Mossyoak77
I was wanting to know if you were to get one on ticket which is a good one without looking at benelli/beretta etc. winchester sx3, remmy versamax, browning maxus or other end of scale £ wise armsan 612 ? steve_b_wales
As mentioned, my good reason ( as advised by my FEO) was to state 'crop protection' together with a signed letter off the farmer stating that his crops were being hammered. When applying, don't ask for a 5 or 7 shot, as that will restrict you for choice. Mine was granted with no problems at all.
kent
I know guys who have them listed for fox and allowed on vermin, its not unusual for more than one or two or three to bolt and its always good to have a shot in reserve for a finishing shot if required. Personally I can rarely get three shots off let alone more on birds so think on and always buy such a thing SH as they are less than 3 shot variants. They are not allowed on the marsh so personally I pass on them
b16jus
Thats the problem i dont have shooting access etc i just prefer the look of them with the extended mag tube It would only be used for clays So really i have no chance as have no "reason" to own J
Lampwick
You need the reason. Clays won't be good enough! (At least here) You don't state a magazine size just FAC . Mines conditioned to "avian pests only" If you want to look cool paint some tubing and glue it on! Lol
Lord O War
If it's just the look you want then I don't see why you cannot just stick the mag extension on a 3 shot shotgun, the mag tube is still crimped so it's not made any difference to the capacity. Or are you not allowed to do this because it makes your shotgun look more dangerous, means you can shoot from the hip and not miss and so on. timmy1146
depends where you are. I'm in south east london and had to do the UKPSA safety course before i was granted my FAC for practical shotgun. Once you have the fax granted you can have any magazine capacity you want, even a 30 round drum on a saiga 12. although they shouldn't have made me wait so long they still did, (apparently the chief FEO was new and did everything by home office guidelines, not actually legislation.) but there we go, got it eventually with two spaces for FAC shotgun and 300 solid slug. Originaly bought a remington 1187 which i'm now trying to sell and bought a VersaMax which i really like apart from only being available with a 28" barrel. But, once you get a nordic tube on it and change a few things it's a really nice gun to shoot.

Fuddster
no probs getting my M2 8 shot. have shot a 3 shot semi for years but increasingly found birds were still in range when coming in groups of 4,5,6's etc and I had a empty gun. now i load up with maybe 5 or 6 to keep the weight down but can knock down more birds as the come in larger groups. just dont get trigger happy-it can get pricey! f.
