steve_b_wales
If you make a claim for damage done to your car by a third party, does your premium go up on renewal, even though it was'nt your fault? A friend of mine said that she was informed that even though her insurance company will claim from the third party's insurers, her renewal will increase because of this. Any thoughts? shoot and be safe
all depends on type of claim. If it was a RTC and she not a fault the premium shouldn't increase. If a vandalism type claim/vehicle theft, it is classed as insurers fault and a increase can be expected. This is based on my experience. Did she have protected no claim discount? Cannon
I was in this very situation not that long ago. My insurer sent me a letter after I made the claim stating that my premium wasn't going to be increased upon renewal, but the amount of discount offered on my renewal premium would be less than what it would normally have been if jo claim was made. Any thoughts? @shoot and be safe: Try reading it, the friend of the OP was not at fault and they are claiming off the third parties insurance. @steve_b_wales: It should not make a difference, but some insurance companies say that if you are involved in an accident you are more likely to be in another one within 3 years and will raise premiums accordingly! bruno22rf
YES it normally does-I was parked and hit by another car-the other car had significant damage but my (Shogun) was unblemished. I rang my insurer just to let them know ( no claim was being made by either party) and the following year my premium went up £25-when I rang to complain they said that if you have one accident your chances of having another increases!! neil3728
I had to claim last year my car while parted was hit by another driver, I have been told by my insurance that my policy will not go up. All the claim went via er insurance, I didn't have to pay anything inc the excess her policy dealt with anything. I don't even have to state I have been involved in an accident, or had a claim. steve_b_wales
She has protected no claims discount. She was parked in a private car park, and a car pulled up alongside her. The other driver opened their car door, and the wind blew it wide open, causing a dent in the rear door on my friends car. It will be bloody annoying if her premium goes up because of someone else's fault. The estimate to repair her car is approx £350 total. Sha Bu Le
It goes up year on year anyhow, when the bills come in for all of the flood damage across parts of the country I wonder what increases we'll see. They are going to get their money one way or another. Thieving ******. I would hate to be a young newly qualified driver in the face of their insurance quotes. Yes I know young drivers make up a disproportionate stat' in the accident figures. My son when he passed quite a few years ago had a 3 cylinder just under 1 litre poxy Corsa...........£1200, he's 32 now and passed when he was 18, so goodness knows what it would cost now. Sha Bu Le
The other thing is insurance companies are like banks, when its fine they lend you an umbrella and when its raining they take it off you or charge more. It sure is raining now.
