Devon Fox
Did anyone read the story about the Royal shoot? There were photo's of one of the guns who had shot a fox cub, the thing was photgraphed rolling around for 5 minutes or so, about 20 yards away from his peg. A beater came over eventually and clubbed it with his flag (like that's going to kill it!) that didnt work so he stamped on its guts. Why the gun didnt just put another shot in it i dont know, surely they can afford a cartridge, ******! They should be so much more carefull when then know the paps are everywhere waiting for this kind of thing. Thanks for drawing more bad publicity to our sport, gggrrrrrrr
Cranfield
Ah the power of the Press to distort things. What I saw in my newspaper was a full grown fox shot, a beater prodding it with a beaters flag to make sure it was dead and another beater poking it with his foot, before picking it up and putting it at the bottom of a hedge. I couldn't see anything wrong with any of that.
Devon Fox
That is a very, very good point.
henry d
I`m with you Cranners, but I think the guy was trying to see if it was a dog or vixen as he was lifting the leg with his foot(saves him smelling of fox for the day). You must ask yourself............why were they there in the first place.....if not to discredit the shoot??

henry d
I don`t think they were there,as they would have been miles(?) off looking at the lack of depth of field in the photos.

tiercel
*** where are you going to get a fox cub at this time of year? Anyone with half a brain would realise that it was just tabloid sensationalism at it again.
plexer
I believe the beater in question was actually the Sandringham Head Keeper? Ben

SNAKEBITE
I must admit that my initial reaction was "Why do that when the press are watching?"

Suffolk shooter
*** where are you going to get a fox cub at this time of year? Anyone with half a brain would realise that it was just tabloid sensationalism at it again. I hate to say this Tiercel, but we had cubs playing outside on our syndicate the week after xmas. It seems that the milder weather is causing havoc with all wildlife breeding seasons Combine this with the fact that we dug out baby rabbits yesterday whilst ferreting as well as shooting 13 adults, 10 of which were does and all were carrying. Seems that nature has changed somewhat worryingly. As a rule of thumb though I have to agree with the other posts about the reasoning behind a) the photos and the captions/headlines. It seems that the lack of actual News results in journalists trying to find the slightest thing to sensationlise. After all did they not get good press out of the whole hunting debate and the london march/police brutality incident. Stands to reason that they print this and people who don't know any different believe it. SS
Ferretboy111
Christ you didnt tell me about the cubs, lol. My friend the terrierman says that they are seeing cubs alot lot earlier and bigger litters. So where are all my cubs on my shoot. The .223 needs more use, only shot 1 fox with it so far. Mil-Dot
I found the story on the Daily-Mail website and posted a comment about how it is quite possibly utter rubbish (there were loads of idiots saying how horrible and brutal the royals were and how we should shoot them...well pretty much) and guess what, after I post it a screen comes up saying 'your comment may be edited or not put up at all'. Newspapers just publish whatever suits their agenda, lies and all, it's funny how many people think that what they read in them is the truth.
