roadkill
I have a washer dryer and it's stopped spinning. I have checked the drain pump and all is clear. I have also taken off the back and the belt is in place also the dryer still works but without the drum turning. So my conclusion Is the motor how do I check this? Or could it be something else? TaxiDriver
Does the drum rotate when its washing ? if it does,it might not be the motor but might be the programmer switch ?

LondonLuke
Isn't it washing machines that store power and can give a nasty belt even when disconnected?

woodcock11
If it is broken beyond repair [and the more bits you take out, the more likely that will be]. we were at Curry's today to buy a new fridge/freezer for a house we are letting out and saw there were one or two deals out there http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/household-appliances/laundry-dishwashers/washer-dryers/indesit-iwdc6143-washer-dryer-white-21359609-pdt.html However that one only does a 6 kg load http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/household-appliances/laundry-dishwashers/washer-dryers/hotpoint-wdpg9640p-washer-dryer-white-12716807-pdt.html The one above does a 9 kg load We have a separate washing machine and tumble dryer at home. I was quite shocked at how expensive they have become. Hopefully you can fix yours.....

I see the 9kg machine has anti stain technology - that might come in handy ;-) Edited March 6, 2014 by station
bruno22rf
We have a 9kg model and its rubbish-its a standard weight machine with a bigger motor-when its spinning we get complaints from Heathrow Airport about the noise.

Keith RW
Has it got a separate filter compartment to the pump, the one we have at present has a very easily accessible one in the front panel without having to dive in and around the back like others we have had previously,
timd999
I think it's the capacitor on tumble driers that stores electricity and can give you a nasty shock, even after unplugging the machine... so be careful! Have had same problem with several different machines over the years and on every occasion it's been due to worn brushes. They are relatively cheap to buy and you may be able to find a DIY video on YouTube. With tumble driers (not rotating on drying cycle) it's often down to a broken drum belt. Again, not too difficult to repair. Good luck!
