HDAV
Was thinking of that, have you ever been? Been to the shop but didn't shoot at the time from where you are its there or treetops newport for a "walk round on your own" type practise. Coleys isn't cheap but is very nice. 33p a clay? South Worcester might be an option http://www.swsg.co.uk/ , there is also Mork https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mork-Clay-Shooting-Club/336445997594 tomorrow and longridge http://www.longridgeclayshooting.co.uk Edited March 15, 2014 by HDAV

Therealchucknorris
In addition to HDAV's quality list above you also have: Hollow Fosse (just north of Cirencester) - about 40 mins Cotswold Clay Club (near Northleach) - about 35 mins. Happy shooting.

Westward
There's also Corinium Clay Shooting Club near Cirencester, Prescott at Winchcombe and Westfield near Bourton but I'm pretty sure the only place you can mosey round on your own for practice is Coley's unless you want to enter competitions. blackbird
I have shot several times at Ian Coleys, it's not cheap but it's a first class shooting ground.
bobby dazzler
Old down pursuits just outside cirencester is a good ground on every other Sunday will cost you £22 for 100 clays cartridges are £5 per box out of all the clay grounds we go to this is the cheapest one
bigrob
The Mount Oliver clay ground is at Hartpury which is fairly close to Newent. Check out the Countryman Sports shop web site for dates.

It gets far too busy and the stands are too close together with very little waiting space. I've witnessed a few safety issues there due to the positioning of the cages and people queuing at other stands. Yes it's cheap but there's no variety in the layout due to the size restrictions in his field and the clays are too easy. For £13 (£11 members) you can have 50 at Hollow Fosse which is in a different league IMO.

lloydi73
Hey guys, I've shot Ian Colleys, like said above, very good smart immaculate ground but very unfriendly staff and you are made to feel a walking credit card. I shoot Oxford Shooting School at Enstone on the airfiled, this is an excellent venue and I go every week. The advantage of both Ian Colletys and Oxford Shooting School is if you're by yourself, you can set a delay on the machine to get yourself set up for the clay. Cotswold clay club Brize Norton is great, only open Sunday Morning though, and Farmington, just along the A40, turn left at the Jail roundabout towards Boughton on the Water, again a great club but only open Sunday morning. I shoot both the only down side is they get very busy, you can wait quite a while on the stands and aslo no delay on the firing of the clay, so you need to try and get with a group. I'd be happy to meet up witjh you.

I had an issue with Cotswold Clay at Farmington over some lessons we were unable to complete due to heavy snow a couple of years ago I paid over £200 for three of us only shot 25 out of a hundred carts before it was impossible to contiue but they would not refund any of the money, said they would sort it out, we went up a couple of times nothing happened. They still have 50 of my carts my sons in law brought theirs away with them We havent been back since. oldfarmer
Solz I see someone has mentioned my ground already. I own South Worcester shooting Ground, which is only about 8 miles north of Tewksbury. Have a look at www.swsg.co.uk where you will find a map and a list of the days we shoot. The ground has over 30 traps, two high towers, one of 60ft and the other of 110ft with some pretty challenging traps on the top. We also have a tuition field with 6 stands set up for novices. There is also a DTL. We are open every Wednesday, Friday and alternate Sundays. We will always find someone to press the buttons for you if you are on your own. Give me a call if you want more details. john 01684310605

DrBob
Can highly recommend Coley's, excellent staff and facilities. Lovely setting too.
southwest_colonel
Ian Coley's is my usual go to as well. Not the cheapest (but in the grand scheme of shooting, not over-priced), excellent variety of targets, I've shot Hollow Fosse almost every other week for a couple of years, have too many issues with traps for my liking, but Martin and the whole crew are an absolutely wonderful bunch and the price is good (so can't complain!). Very friendly and always happy to help. Been a few years since I last paid the chaps at South Worcester a visit. This thread's reminded me of what a good experience we used to have when we visited, so must add it to my summer to-do list.
oldfarmer
Hi SWC - if I can wet your appetite to come and revisit us at South Worcester you will see a few changes - hopefully for the better. You can now use plastic wads, we now have DTL and a 25 bird compact layout which we keep changing as well as around 20 sporting stands if you include the novice field. We are happy for novices to use the easy field with it's 6 stands on Wednesday and Fridays if it isn't fully occupied doing tuition. Sundays are a different matter as it is usually fully occupied by my 3 coaches. We still have the big crane (110ft) with it's 2 powerful traps but there are now 5 traps on the 60 ft tower - so even more variety. On Wed and Friday's you can shoot as much as you like but on the Sundays (see www.swsg.co.uk for dates) we still have the 64 bird layout over 8 stands but half of the stands have 3 trap supersporting. All for .29p per clay or less if you are a member! Hopefully the appetite is moistening a little - see you soon. John
