Bentos
heads up but I think blank fire in all black is possibly illegal these days, not sure was pulled up on it by a member of my shoot when I leant it to him for dog work... he recommended I paint it orange
r1steele
They aren't illegal to own or use but you can't sell them unless they are a certain amount hi-viz.

Not if the person you're selling to has a UKARA number (airsoft club) or is a full member of a reenactment club, then you can have all black

CaptainBeaky
The VCR Act and amendments are very opaque - it's quite difficult to work out what is legal and what isn't. As I understand it, a blank-firer has the same legal standing as a non-firing replica or an Airsoft gun, i.e. an Imitation Firearm or a Realistic Imitation Firearm, and you are only allowed to buy one if you are either a re-enactor, a museum, a theatrical group or an airsofter. Of course, a deactivated firearm is an entirely different kettle of fish, and quite legal to buy just because you want one. What? You expected logic? (sigh) Beaten to it! "For the purpose of theatrical performances" is the other category.

CaptainBeaky
Oh dear ,looks like I will be hack sawing it up and throwing in the bin.You could always approach a local theatre group - you might at least get a beer out of it or some free tickets, and it's easier than cutting it up, and less upsetting than handing it in to be destroyed.Or if it is an accurate replica of something specific, try the Living History Forums. That's what most people do. Edited April 2, 2014 by r1steele
welshwizard
Tin of orange spray paint fixes the legal to sell issue!!!! + 1 for that , is it .22 ,8mm or 9mm blank ? I would say value around £50 - £80 depending on cal ? Pity to cut it up , make sure once painted or taped up you photograph it as done , unless you can find a genuine re-enactor . DaveyTed
I don't know if it applies to all .38 blank/starting pistols but the Olympic one is definitely banned because it can easily be converted to live firing: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/under-starters-orders-the-latest-weapon-to-be-outlawed-1947204.html

Scully
I seriously cant believe we, as a nation have allowed things regarding imitation guns to sink to this level . We must be an International laughing stock. Embarrassing isnt the word.
kingo15
I have a blank firing glock ive had for a few years now. Brought when I had more money than sense lol. Just sitting here doing nowt. Id rather keep it in the cupboard than destroy it or paint it orange and sell it. Mind you if I photoshop the pics so its orange and then advertise it does that count haha
