JONAH898
Need you lovely people on hear to solve a debate we hate at the rifle club tonite. A few of us are considering on getting a table top cannon each and have had conflicting advice o. Which liscience it would go on, one lad was told would go on a firearms and another was told with it being smooth bore would go on a shotgun cert, do any of you shoot cannons or know people that do and which liscience it goes on? Thanks for your advice in advance
Big Mat
I believe due to the overall length it would make it a section 1 firearm Edited April 16, 2014 by Big Mat
rogcal
From what I've just read on the "Cannon and Mortar" forum of the MLAGB (Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain), it will be a Sec 1 Firearm. http://www.mlagb.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?board=cannon
mark@mbb
I thought you could have a 2" cannon on a shotgun licence as it was a smooth bore
Old farrier
Hi Depends on length and bore sise and age under 2inch bore it can be a shotgun if barrel exeeds 24 inches and is smooth bored Over 2 its ordinance different rules If its old and your not going to use it different rules again But go with Matt Section 1 if your going to put it on table Signal cannons that fire black powder blanks are section 1 firearms This info is from my Flo and his interpretation So may be different in your area Hope this helps All the best Of
Big Mat
I thought you could have a 2" cannon on a shotgun licence as it was a smooth bore You can but you've still got the overall length law to contend with

Mentalmac
Stupid question and please don't shoot me down in flames for asking: but with a punt gun, is there a condition that states you must only use on water and at ducks?
CaptainBeaky
Stupid question and please don't shoot me down in flames for asking: but with a punt gun, is there a condition that states you must only use on water and at ducks? Surely a punt gun is a section 2 shotgun - smooth bore, less than 2" bore (I hope!) and more than 24" barrel, so you shouldn't have any conditions on the license. You could even shoot clays with one, assuming you are, in fact, the Incredible Hulk...
