I think some people over here misunderstood them to be British made shotguns for 1k which would seem a good price. Never the less I'm curious as to what the British shooting crowed feel about them? They both suffered from double discharge problems which the manufacturers seemingly couldnt put right. Resale values were dire. Things may have improved latterly; I have no idea. sixhills 69 Posted April 27, 2014 Report Share Posted April 27, 2014 I had the webley & scott 912 sporter selling it was the worst thing I did loved the gun but needed to by a 243 as most of my shooting is on foxes and deer. Tamster Posted May 10, 2014 Report Share Posted May 10, 2014 Hello, I have recently brought a Webley &b Scott 912K Game over & under. I was a bit septic due to the mixed reviews. However I wanted a new gun & not S/H and my budget was £700 to £800. I have only just taken up this sport and this would be my 1st gun. Could not afford a £1500+ Beretta. I heard that previous 912's had its problems at the start, but my dealer (good chap) stated that since last year 912's have made big improvements over its predecessor. Yes Webley & Scott is now owned by Highland Outdoors Co and the gun is made in Turkey. I only paid £695 for my 912 i n April 2014 and is classed as a budget gun. I have now shot over 500 cartridges (not a lot I know) but has performed faultlessly. For the price, I thoroughly recommend it, I know a lot of people don't like it due to previous issues and that it made in Turkey, however I am very happy with my 912K to date. I know in later years the quality of Webley had slipped but even so we feel its wrong . I can not speak for the quality of these Turkish guns having little experience of them , just don't like them on principle . Webley, BSA and some Benelli's (some badged as Stoeger) all made in Turkey.. and I understand most Remingtons are now made in Russia.. I seem to think it's a snob thing.. if it does not 'cost you over £1,500 then it must be rubbish'.. I know peep's with sub £600 u/o's and semi-auto's who regularly outshoot others with £2,000 guns, have less trouble with them and enjoy themselves more (which is what it's all about) because they ain't constantly worrying about getting the gun dirty or marked!. Personally, I don't think it's a 'snob thing'. I have six shotguns, only one of which was more than 1500 quid, the others ranging from 250 to 1000. I know people who own Hatsans and Baikels who think they're excellent guns; but from bad experience with the Turkish made Webleys I can only comment on them. The fact someone with a cheap gun can outshoot someone with an expensive gun is a reflection on the shooters ability and not the quality of the gun. eon Posted June 13, 2014 Report Share Posted June 13, 2014 My father in law and I both bought brand new 912's approximately 4 years ago as we were both new to shooting and the budget was right for our first guns. Straight away my father in laws had problems with mine working perfectly. The problems continued with his gun despite going back to be repaired, eventually after some time his money was returned and the gun was destroyed. My gun after 6 - 9 months of use never once giving any grief then started having the exact problems that had ruined his gun! Long story short, I got rid as soon as I could. solz Posted June 14, 2014 Report Share Posted June 14, 2014 Horses for courses, iv had the 810 semi auto and tbh it wasn't bad just a no frills m/c auto I had the same gun, and I had no end of problem with it, sold it as soon as a I could (it went back to the shop and they couldn't fix the problems so gave me my money back ) I'm would be a bit nervous when buy such guns, simply bcos as there to many mixed review I feel that it is almost "luck" if the gun work or is reliable. I also think the fact that some guns don't have problems yet others of the same make/model work fine make the company and manufacturing process unreliable.
