4am and 4 miles.....

later I bumped into another dog fox!

Gorgeous morning, walked miles and on the way back had a bit of luck when I saw this fox mooching around in a tractor track at 50yds, hidden by cover I moved in as he was slowly moving away. Then he turned to my right and he was soon going to wind me! In a horse paddock now full of tall buttercup he was, I was worried it may foul the bullet! I was remembering those light .224" bullets of years ago!

He stuck his head up to nose the air and the sight was on the stretched neck masked though by buttercups......whallop, the 158grn xtp stopped him perfect, no fuss.

30yd or so and my old sprocker retrieved it to me :)

That's two last week, five Saturday night and one today, eight. Where do they keep coming from!

Hope you like the snap.

Well done I struggle with early morning starts :)

Is that 8 off one patch of ground ?

Pretty much, certainly within a mile diameter!

All this modern technology; making it too easy for yourself...Flintlock Fox? All the best!

First thing I thought of DW was 'could of done that with a muzzleloader'!

Nice picture and another good result there U, nice to see you being good and using ear protection, something i need to do more often! :good:

Hmmm, I have what sounds like a distant diesel engine running in the distance noise now and it is worse if I don't plug my lugs when shooting :sad1:

I don't suppose you can get a muzzle loading rifle conditioned for vermin can you? Probably limited to club usage.. Good stout charge and some big shot would do it from the flintlock i would imagine..sensible ranges and all that.

Sick of trying matey....took me 20years to get a 357!

I would love to use a .45 patched ball rifle.

Can understand that; it would be a good thing, little 32 cal muzzle loading rifle would be my choice i think. Just need to wait for you to set the precedent ;)

A 32 would be good, bit like a 22mag , I would prefer a 36 though in the sub .40 rifles, can use sg shot in a 36 :)

see if you had a proper rifle you would not have to drown them to finish them off lol lol

wicked u .. i know the feeling i also had 8 the other week from a small farm that i cover weekly

That is dew, dog dragged it a few yards :), drownded it
