Axe
Volvo have now released pre-launch pictures on the new model Volvo V70. I have the current model and will be looking to change at the end of the year. I've looked at others but none really offer the same practicality as doess the Volvo for my needs. Trouble is, as with all model changes i'm not sure about it. What do you guys reckon? New Volvo V70

pin
I like the coupe's and the ragtops they have been doing recently, and was a big fan of the t5r etc but I have to say it, that looks horrible It looks like a toned down 3 series with an a4 avant's **** end stitched on the back
Owenwill
Very nice, was considering the current V70 or XC70 when I was changing car last month, it was the fact that new model was imminent that put us off, that and the fact you have to pay near a grand for 2 extra seats to give it the 7 seats we need, we went for a VW Touran eventually, not very exciting but ideal with the 3 kids
darebear
i was gonna ask a daft girlie question, like 'what colours does it come in?'.... until i looked at it. i think i can get away with it from the side view, but the front and back end just look cheap to me. a definite no-no. Axe
I have to say, I am pleased with the new design up to the point you see the back end. Which totally spoils the whole car.
pin
I stand by my original slur, what you want is the s40 T5 ragtop in black perl with cream full leather interior

naddan28
Does your new car have to be an estate Axe? How about audi's? I think they are lovely cars. Well built and discreet in comparision to BMW's and Mercs
pin
That's more like it I run an A4 saloon, its peachy
naddan28
£25.5K for a nice a4 estate in pearlescant blue paint with full leather interior. 38mpg out of 1.8 so not to bad in all!
Axe
SL, yes I would very much like the Sport, but its not a viable option what with the new Tax laws etc. As for Audi's, absolutely gorgeous cars. I had a look at the new A6 and spent 10mins just drawling over it in the showroom. That up to the point the salesman took mee out to look at the estate. What a load nonsense, the size of the boot is comparable to a Ford Escort! It was tiny and for such a big car it was surprising. That and the fact, that Audi are now more expensive than BMW, I wont be getting one. Naddan, I have to have an estate for work purposes, we do from time to time, carry an awful lot of gear. Oly
If you'll buy one from the picture you have far too much money!

Huh, the avant has a massive boot, surely your confused there? My a4 saloon has a huge boot too, everyone calls it the skip As for more expensive than BMW, can't say I agree there, like for like spec BMW is more expensive by a few k's
Mungler
Get your old man to dig a bit deeper and buy you a propper company car m8, get the Range Rover Sport Its all about image you know :o Get the fast BMW X5 - at least everything will work on it and it will be fast enough to scare the pants off you. Are they still giving out free AA membership as part of the basic specification for all Range Rovers?
Axe
Pin, if you think the boot on the A6 is big you should have a look at the V70 boot. It has the biggest boot in all classes including the Merc E Class that can only say its boot is equally as big as it has a space saving gizmo in it. Price wise, I didnt compare standard models, the comparison was made with the extras I would require. That said though, the Audi dealer I went to is known for its "we don't do discounts" attitude. So in fairness, your probably right.
naddan28
A BMW X5!!!! Complete ****** car, 90% of BMW drivers are morons, espically 3 series drivers as they seem to think they own a porsche not a BMW. The only one that temps me is a Z4. Axe pin was talking about the A4 not A6 so dont know whether you 2 have wires crossed and boot is diff in the A4?

Axe pin was talking about the A4 not A6 so dont know whether you 2 have wires crossed and boot is diff in the A4? the z4 is a hair dressers car, albeit a good looking one. bmw m5 is the one to go for. bmw 530d would be my choice to replace the volvo mate. next door neighbour has one, its not as pretty as the audi in my opinion, but it goes like poo off a shovel looked at the scoobys? the legacy Bspec, well built, quick, very good customer service, 4wd as well
Mungler
I just don't get peoples fascination with "Rovers" in any shape or form. My mate had a top spec Range Rover Vogue which he bought low mileage one owner FSH from a dealer. The thing was a death trap and nothing electrical worked [full stop]. As far as cars go, the sensible money is on Jap or German I am afraid. I do remember seeing on telly years ago someone on the Countryside alliance march wearing a T shirt that said "I would rather push my Land Rover than buy Japanese". Well, it's his choice, but I would take reliability over pushing.... P.S. Z4 is a poofs car
dunganick
just had a look on what car at the comparison between the scooby 3.0 spec B and your current v70, i think you will find it comapires pretty well. Lacking by a very small margin in rear leg room, head room and min boot space. But monsters it 0-60. However its not a tractor like i believe yours is so going to be a little more thirsty. now revised my idea and would now go after a legacy spec B
