Cheers mate, he's a cracking fowling and beating dog. Looking to put him to stud this year as have a list of people wanting a pup from him. Back out tonight for some more and taking my lad out for his 1st flight as a junior member.

kiffy
you slkept late? plonker my alarm was set for 12 midnight with a planned leave of 1am. i was up WELL before 12 in fact i barely slept... my mate dodnt bother going to bed as he was so wound up. we left just before 1 and got up the dyfi a touch after 4, we where not the first there and within minutes there was a line of cars in the parking area. by half four we where all walking down and set up around 150 meters apart. me and my mate where only about 30 as we shared the dog... as light came we heard a couple of shots go off to the right then around 6.30 some geese came in, i got one on the second shot... not ideal but better than i did with my benelli last year my mate got the other we stayed until 8am and decided as it had gone dead to go get breakfast as theres a cafe by the turning into the estuary then go backj down with all our decoy gear as we only took the guns to flight some early geese first time around the cafe didnt open on mondays so we thought we would drive into aberdyfi for breakfast, was lovely but expensive and small! then we went onto another ground, the broadwater in towyn. i as mentioned before on here have a slight fear of water (i HATE it) so didnt wade through to the island but my mate did.. why i bottled it i dont know as its not that deep. i decided not to shoot as although pemitted to where i was there where walkers everywhere so common sence had to kick in.. after a few hours with nothing coming in we packed up so after calling in one of the club membrs houses on the way home we got home at 7... tired and confused and fueled by monster energy the last couple of hours so all we had was a goose each and that was by half six but i dont care, i had a cracking day even if it hammered down for the first few hours and it does seem my beretta is a million times better than my benelli on the marsh.. food and off to bed now as ive a silly o clock start in work tomorrow to put right everything that went wrong today... roll on saturday! Evolve82
**** day today. Must be the worst day out ever. Never done 1st day of season before but saw just a few high and fast ducks this morning missed 2 chances but nothing was committing to the water in front of us. This evening was even worse- nit a single shot on. Loads of mossies though! Very disappointing start to the season. Back out next weekend and hopefully will be a bit better! Can't get any worse! silver pigeon 3
Evening flight was a little quiet, 1 good chance came our way but unfortunately my lad missed a little behind. Plus points he knew why he missed and we have another budding wildfowler in our ranks.
tomblincoe
Bagged a hen mallard on my first flight of my first 'fowling season so I came home with a spring in my step! Tom
Paul T
Well, I'm off the mark with a mallard First time I've dropped a bird on the first day of the season - Full write up and pic in the 'Sporting Pictures' section. I left my gloves in the car though and the mozzies were both large and determined. I'm sure I caught a pair of them acting as a team, trying to make off with the cocker! I used to force the old man to take me out in the morning before school started on the first. Hopefully he'll get one next time!
