kent
Evening flight was a little quiet, 1 good chance came our way but unfortunately my lad missed a little behind. Plus points he knew why he missed and we have another budding wildfowler in our ranks. Just a note, teach him a trigger guard is there to keep his fingers and such away from the trigger- bad habit to allow to form that

silver pigeon 3
Completely agree Kent and i have pulled him up on it already! The safety was on as I have taught him to leave it on until the moment you need to get the shot off, but fingers should only go on the trigger when it is going to be pulled! Fal
Went out last night for flight, plenty of mallard about but they are quickly learning to stay high out of the way!! All out of range, I did of a skein of canada's over me, well in range, fluffed all three shots! Too much lead I think, kept pulling in front and I don't think I needed to as I was in front by miles. Also forgot the insect spray, I look like a lepper this morning!! Ouch!! Walking on and off sweating in a tshirt is not wildfowling weather, bring on the frost! margun
Typical, loads of greylags dropping in on the peas in front of my place during July. Farmer even brought a box of carts over so I could deter them, and they kept coming in through August, then on the wheat stubble out back. Have all ******** off now since the first!! But the good news is they've had the best breeding season for years around here so once the migratory bids come in I might get a shot! strangford wildfowler
Was out this morning for morning flight on the shore and there was one or two birds about seen one teal that caught me off gaurd that I left alone than one big mallard drake flew over but to high for skeet barrels he was about seventy yards high, but one bird that caught my attention was a barn owl who was flying about also quite a few pheasants knocking around. But morning flight proved fruitless but when me and dad where at the car the geese where flighing from roosr to there feeding grounds so put some heavy alfamax in and dad loaded 3 1/2" magnums in his semi auto ( we where over stubble at this point) so using the goose call we nearly got them turned but we where hiding behind the car as it was the only bit of cover about but they cleadred off but as we where about to put the guns in the slips there was another skeen of geese in the distance and they where flying are way but again the same thing happened. We then half an hour on pigeons and as we where packing up the number of geese we saw was incredible but they where a long way off and no point in callin there mst av been 200-300 geese all flying into stubbles and geese drop like stone when going into stubble fields. So a fruitless flight bjt we did manage half a dozen pigeons on the way home. Hopefully get a goose soon this fever of mine isnt gettin any better its getting worse

kiffy
had a mixed day today up again at midnight and left a touch before 1am, made good time and got there earlier than expected so decided to try and get a half hours sleep in the car... my mate snored louder than ive ever heard someone snore so a nap was out of the question we went down onto the broadwater and crossed onto an island, i am petrified of water but i crossed in the pitch black ok (ish) bit of a sissy really as its only just over my knackers deep so nothing to worry about. we both got in position and there where a lot of geese a few hundreds yards away. the bloody dog decided to chase them, slipped his lead and swam off. we then spent almost 3 hours looking for the bloody thing! thankfully found him ok but walked miles in doing so. only had one shot there and hit a mallard, sadly not a clean kill and he swam into an area that i couldnt retrieve him (without the lost dog) so came away empty handed... REALLY hate not being able to either finish the bird quickly... really gets to me off for a breakfast, same place as last week quite expensive but very nice then onto the other ground. a long walk in with boiling hot weather and sweating buckets in my waders. thank god i didnt wear my neoprene deciding instead to wear my leaky old ones. we got the hide set up around 11am and sat watching geese floating over the railway line a hundreds yards down so my mate went down to sit under the flightline while i thought sod it ill wait here. half hour later i heard a load of honking, then looking around spotted a load coming for me, then more and more.. i rekon there where 200 coming my way. i was on the verge of wetting myself in excitment... the first time goose fever has really kicked in, all i could do was say oohh...ohh... ohh as i saw goose after goose heading my way. most where out of range but i emptied my semi auto sadly only dropping one (i was to excited to concentrate) but it was a cracking shot. got one more after that and my mate had one while under the flightline. walking out with a rucksack full of gear a gun and a pair of canadas, one of them huge killed me... by the time i got back to the car i was on te verge of passing out it was so hot next stop was closest shop for a bucket of energy drinks and a pack of paracetemols as both of us ached all over.... home and geese sorted by 8pm, a LONG day again but well worth it even with only two birds butits not the bag size for me its the enjoyment of being out there oh.. almost forgot id have one mishap... being out for so long nature did eventually call so i went for the closest bush, dropped my kegs and as i went to crouch down noticed the gorse bush behind me so i sidestepped and crouched down and stuck my bare backside on a load of stingy nettles.. OUCH!!! tha tshocked i couldnt even go Edited September 6, 2014 by kiffy

Charlie R
Went out tonight to see if i could get some duck off a pond on my permission and despite not having a dog managed one mallard. Got thoroughly soaked getting it back and one of my decoys decided to turn into a submarine. Roll on October and my annual trip north to get some proper fowling done.
