Harnser
Just finished a slab off . Bought them to try out and have found them an awesome shell for pigeons . They are very hard hitting and my clean kill ratio has gone up and I have been picking up more birds and less runners . Give them a try you won't be disappointed . Will know go out and buy a thousand . They are not cheap if I remember about £240 but they do work . Harnser.
Whitebridges
Agreed. Of all the branded "pigeon" shells in 12g these are the ones. Mick you have a PM.

fenboy
I have used them then and yes they are a decent cartridge , but I much prefer the Fiocchi pigeon 32 which are also a fair bit cheaper .

figgy
They should be good with that amount of pellets in the pattern. 28g 7s or 30g 6s are my favorites. Confidence in your carts is what counts and the Eley are doing it for you. Figgy

I'd try the Express Power Pigeon Size 6 29g mate easy on the wallet and packs that punch to get them clean kills. Trust me they are a cracking shell but just a thought for you mate Atb DazzJo
Vince Green
Real cartridges! 32g! you simply cant beat putting lead in the air. all these 28s and 24s are just cutdown cut price cartridges. Don't get fooled.

Don't get fooled. +1 the cartridge manufacturers have a monopoly on 32g game loads. they want to keep the price high because estates buy them in silly quantities. they can afford it. 29g load is only an out of spec ounce load, an ounce is 28.4 grams so you pay a premium for 0.6grams, thats only 600grams of extra lead per 1000 shells over an ounce 28gram load. thats taking into account the +/- 2% its the same for the 31gram loads. its an out of spec 30g load or 32g loads. just dont be fooled. http://www.####.co.uk/kit.htm eley pigeon £240-£160 (fes loads) = £80. that even pays for a new lee reloader every 1000 shells and you still have 30 notes in your back pocket for a fish supper. DazzJo
No need for 32g for pigeons don't see the point 28g does the job more than enough
Harnser
No need for 32g for pigeons don't see the point 28g does the job more than enough I wasn't trying to compare one load against another . Only saying that these shells worked well for me . I normally use 28 grams of 6 shot for just about everything . Tried these shells on recommendation from a shooting friend . They definitely suit my style of shooting and I will be buying more of them . As I get older and my eyesight start to fail and my swing starts to slow down maybe this is the cartridge for me . Harnser im same as you with using 28g of 6s for most ifnot all my shooting, but quite recently i came across an express load of 25g of 6s and im very susprised how good a load they are and even on the rangy birds too!!! rbrowning2
The breath and depth of cartridges available is staggering and we almost have to much choice. Shoot with what works best for you, that is important. I think they only use 24gm loads on Olympic trap and the clays are a good distance out then so as long as the live quarry is killed quickly and cleanly that's what matters is it not? I prefer #6 and #6.5 in my 12ga but also like #7 in a 24gm load in my 28ga when decoying. Edited September 5, 2014 by rbrowning2
propercartridges
try mine from thetford guns just sent him about 33000 x 30 gram 6 price should be about £172 or pay nearly £50 pounds more for 2 grams of lead you all want a good quality cheap cartridge so I made one now you are looking at paying a lot more money what can one say
rbrowning2
No not £50 more if you load your own, I guess we all use what we are happy with and happy to pay for.
birdsallpl
I do believe it is important to have confidence in your gun and cartridge when shooting quarry. You have to know that what you are shooting at will hopefully die instantaneously when hit. So this means you have to have a gun and cartridge fit for purpose. The rest of it is just personal choice. I have been shooting for almost half a century and I could not tell you the name of the cartridges in my bag that I will take out today. I know they are number six shot and I know they will be around the 30grms give or take. But for the rest of it, it is complete b***s. If you are within range and on target you will stop the Quarry as long as your gun and what is in it is fit for purpose. I really don't get all the fuss some people make about cartridges IMHO
