VULTURE
Hi. My two Daughters are bugging me to take them to the Harry Potter World place, anyone on here been and was it worth the cost of entry etc, Don't want to drive 120 miles to just to have a hours wander about then come home again. Cheers. Vulture
Whitebridges
The missus and I took our two daughters last month. £31 pp entry so not the cheapest day out. We thought it was very well done and it took us about three and a half hours to get through it all. Some were taking a lot longer. The biggest laugh was the rip of prices in the shop. Nial
Hi. Cheers. Vulture How old are your girls? It's _not_ a theme park. It's a lot of the old sets with some interactive bits and a lot of background information on how they made the films, with bits on animatornics etc. You need to be able to read all the information that's all over the place. We did it last year with our girls ages 9 and 11 at the time. We all really enjoyed it but much younger and they might not have got very much out of it. Nial. halfbee
My kids 11 and 16 love it so much they've been twice. Not been myself, I think I went out on the pigeons that day...
mr_magicfingers
given that my girlfriend is on all the big screens explaining how we made the films and I was part of the crew, I'm going to be a bit biased here If your daughters are interested in how the films were made and the skills involved then it's a great place to visit. It's very much a love letter to those who made the films, and seeing behind the scenes at how it was done is, for many, a glimpse of the 'magic' of films. Very few films are ever built on the scale that Potter was, as it was in production for 10 years. When you look at things like the blueprints, you start to see how detailed everything has to be, there is a blueprint for every building and set in the films just as there is for any building you make in real life. The sets are amazing in their detail and, yes, the sets really are exactly as there were built for filming, just moved into a new building from the old one. Allow a few hours for the tour, even if you're not into Harry Potter, I think you'll enjoy it just for a glimpse of how films are made. Zapp
Mrs Zapp is on at me about going. I'm sure she and the kids would like it, but I'd rather stick wasps up my bottom. I'll just tell her it is £31 per person and she should go off the idea with any luck.

aris
It gets rave reviews on Tripadvisor. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g2691242-d2147749-Reviews-Warner_Bros_Studio_Tour_London-Leavesden_Hertfordshire_England.html I've promised my younger son a trip there since he has read all the books, so we will be going in the near future (it is not too far from us either). truflex
We are going on the 5th December. Could anybody recommend anywhere cheap and cheerful to stay for two nights?
HDAV
We are going on the 5th December. Could anybody recommend anywhere cheap and cheerful to stay for two nights? HOw close? Its Leavesden near watford so anywhere cheap near watford they do shuttles from the station in watford (not sure on cost) so train to watford or somewhere on that line would be a good option. NickS
I usually do a search on Trip Advisor or Bookings.com, rank the results starting with the best ratings and then scroll down as far as I need to until I find one at a price I am willing to pay. We have found some great places like that. Nick
