Denboy
I'm in the process of getting my FAC and I'm just waiting for it to drop on my mat I've seen a nice rifle I want but don't have much funds so was thinking should I trade in my only shotgun and buy another shotgun at a later date? Woodlander
If you're not using the shotgun and you know you'll be using the rifle regularly, then do it,unless you're particularly attached to it. There's always plenty for sale when you're in the money again.
superspark
Each weapon has its use. Question you got to ask yourself is, what will you be likely to use the most? Anwer this question and you will have your awnser. I have both but shottie gets used the most for me

Mentalmac
You have time to buy a 22. Why not put down a tenner on it or whatever the RFD wants as a deposit and then chip away at it for a few months until you can afford it. If you get rid of the shotgun, you will need one again quicker than you imagine. Also, you could just buy a dirt cheap 22lr and then trade that in at a later date for a nicer one. I have the money in the bank but I've got her in the kitchen saying we need to buy a £300 car seat and but a few bits for the house! Rst1990
If it was me I would save for the rifle and keep the shotgun. You can pick up rifles very cheap so hopefully you won't have to save too long.
figgy
Stay with the shotgun and buy the car seat. If her indoors is happy your ears don't bleed no more You can save for the rifle as they can be bought second hand very cheaply. welshwarrior
As others have said keep the shotgun and long haired general happy then when you have the cash buy the 22. Look at the BRNO mod 2E basically the same as the 452 and often come up silly cheap.

lloydi73
Buy it on finance, lot of dealers are offering this now, "Pay4Later" I believe is the financing company!! Failing that, down my way you can pick up a S/H CZ 452 scopes/mounts and silenced for about £200..... Hope it works out for you...
