Charlie_79
Hi everyone went and brought myself some hypa flaps seeing as people think they work well and just had a few Minnor problems when setting them up. When they are on the rotary every now and then the wings slide and it ends up with one wing pointing north and the other south ? Why is this ? Any advice will be helpful
Cranfield
I have used Hypa Flaps since they first came out, but I don't quite understand what you mean. If the whole unit is screwed tight to the rotary, it shouldn't move and if the rods for the wings are fitted correctly, they will remain outward. Can you give a bit more detail please. deny essex
Maybe charlie means one wing being flipped over as the decoy turns "with the wind", either the rotary too slow for the wind conditions or the wing tie to the body needs a little tightening. TIGHTCHOKE
Did you use one rod or two?
hushpower
sounds like the thumb scew needs to be tightened more as cranfield said
lakeside1000
Make sure you feed the rod through the corrugated plastic at the back of the neck then through the wing slots and into the little pockets, the rod should go through the plastic as near to the front wing edge as possible, if the wing still folds over shorten the fishing line at the back edge of each wing or add a second rod to stiffen wings, these hypa flaps work well in light winds but do suffer in anything stronger than a force 2 or 3, I tend to put them away if the wind picks up and rely more on my two turbo flappers. Cranfield
In my experience if the wind permits the use of a rotary, my hypaflaps work well, but they do have to be set up correctly as lakeside1000 details.
Uncle Albert
I had a problem with my deeks twisting round on my bouncers so I filed a flat on the main rod. When the thumbscrew is tightened it sits perfectly now all the time it's out.
the crowman
I put electrical tape to the rod to build it up and it stops it spinning.
tigger got stichs
I find 2 wall plugs in the pockets and piano wire cut to the right length gives an even more realistic flapping than the rods supplied
jcbbracken
should the fishing line that holds the wing be tight so the wing touches the body mine seems to have a big gap about 2 inches
TIGHTCHOKE
The fishing line should be slack to allow movement, I have shortened mine as they were excessive!

TIGHTCHOKE
I buy carbon rods that are used for the manufacture of fishing floats from Evilbay and cut them to length, stronger and cheaper than the rods they are supplied with. Westley
Local model shop sells carbon rods in different thicknesses, used for making kites. I just have different thickness of rod to match wind conditions.
