loriusgarrulus
I reproof my Target Dry coat with Nikwax wash in reproofer in the automatic washing machine. Works a treat. Go outdoors sells it and a lot of outdoor sports shops as well.

moor man
Just used a tin of Aldi stuff ( about £1.50!!) to proof my cheapo regatta shooting jacket, seems good under the tap but the real test will come this weekend when Im shooting. The forecast is wet so will see how it fares and report back. Waterproofs are a nightmare unless you spend loads or get army surplus goretex (very good but not very smart) Nikwax products are good, sprayon, wash in, Go outdoors sell it. After a while you get used to being wet........ Edited November 20, 2014 by moor man

islandgun
I use Fabsil or nikwax spray-on tent waterproofer on all materials nylon, worn goretex, cotton, Im not bothered to much about breathability as its usually blowing a gale so i keep well aired, perhaps you should name and shame the coat ! felly100
I use nikwax waterproofer. The trick is to wash your coat first and then spray the jacket while it is still wet. That way,the proofing soaks into the coat properly. Also lay it on the floor to do it,don't spray it on a coat hanger, otherwise the spray will just end up in a puddle on the floor. Muddy Funker
If you do a search on the bay people sell one shot sachets of nikwax wash in, saves having to buy the full bottle.Use tech wash first also from nikwax, then without removing coat from machine put in the nikwax wash in waterproofer. I think it's really good. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=nikwax&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=nikwax+pouch&_sacat=

Dekers
As already mentioned and depending on the type of jacket, Fabsil or the various makes of wax/thornproofing.
Harnser
There are far better materials out there for out door clothes than waxed cotton . I thought waxed cloth went out with the ark . I used to wear waxed Barbour jackets for shooting and they are rubbish compared to the modern material . I don't know any shooters now adays who wear waxed cloth clothing . Years ago we used to re proof barbours with wax floor polish . The lavender one used to smell rather nice . loriusgarrulus
I am in an ark too. Love my waxed jacket. Just recently rewaxed it. I do partially proof the woolly hats and jumpers I shoot in with Nikwax polar fleece.

Chris Bb
I am in an ark too. Love my waxed jacket. Just recently rewaxed it. +1 I have a lightweight PG Field which is great in summer, I can't bring myself to part with it even though the lining's literally falling apart. For winter I have a heavier Barbour. I re-wax them on the hottest summer day possible, no problems with tumble driers or hairdryers. Mind, with the sunshine and hot wax, it's a strip to the waist job as it's like working in a sauna.
