dibbz2000
Hi all. Wondering if anyone can help out on this? I'm after a second hand 4x4 I did have my heart set on a Nissan Navara or Ford Ranger pickup but the other half has pretty mush ruled that out... So I'm looking at the Shogun Sport. I've found one not to far away for about the right money 80k miles with full service history and long MOT. Does anyone have one or had one? Its the 2.5 LWB and looks clean and tidy. The only downside being 500£ tax a year and 26mpg combined figure! Other than that any other reccomendations on a budget of 5k? Thanks, Martin
Richie10
Get what you want the other half won't be paying for it I guess.
al4x
Educate her the £500 tax and economy is a big downside. They have the old 4d56 as fitted to older shoguns and l200's the newer engine on shoguns post 2005 and l200's after 06 is much better and more economical. As a guide my l200 gives about 32mpg and is £200 odd for tax
dibbz2000
Haha. There's no educating this one!! Its a 56 plate model if that helps!
lurchers
Get a RAV4 mate excellent on fuel mine is a 05 plate and I'm doing 43 to the gallon around the doors.tax is £278 a year.
Twistedsanity
Lol, I have a 2007 shogun and it's pretty awful on fuel unless your on a very. Long run and drive like an old lady, the shogun sport is an l200 pickup with a different body and nothing like the other bigger shogun to drive, completley different beasts , I average low to mid 20's and its in the £500 tax bracket but I think it weighs over 3 tonnes
dunnin21
Iv being looking at one of these also, 2005 and before is cheaper tax
BrowningDJC
The shogun sport is on the same running gear as the 2001-2006 l200, I think the warrior versions are still one of the best looking 4x4's out there.
dibbz2000
Complete U turn.. Getting a X-Trail!
clanchief
Wise man, I am on my second. The diff lock is good for off road, and the auto 4x4 works very good, just leave it in that position, and it goes from 2 wheel to 4 or it will go to diff lock if it needs, all by itself. One tip I found that as it has a double clutch, 1st gear can be crunchy at times, so just stick on diff lock and drive for 20 yards or so, this lines things back up again. keg
I thought the X-trail was a Haldex type transmisson as found in the Freelander. I don't think it has a diff lock, just 4wd lock. We had one and it was a great vehicle. Good choice!
