How convenient I find this after this afternoon.

Last summer my 13 yr old daughter was caught by her mum stealing cigarettes and money - she was being bullied at school for it.

Last week she was found again with cigarettes in her pocket. My wife came home from bingo one night with 20 £1 coins in her purse -the following day some are missing but she swears blind it's not her!

This afternoon the wife informs me (after she's nearly in tears with yet another argument with the daughter) that she's been playing truant with the b1tch girl down the road that knocks for her for school.

I saw blue murder, went in the front room, got hold of her (you can guese the rest - most unlike me).

When she was younger we'd play chase games around the house, go for rides on our bikes, and later as she grew, on the motorbike.

Now I feel like I don't know her any more and don't feel I can trust her.

Good for you njc110381.

I lived with my grandparents for a while and it was my grandad who showed me respect and in return I respected him. He let me learn by mistakes but was always there for me.

He died 6 years ago but I am determined that I am going to be to my kids what he was to me. Hard act to follow though.

i to like you went and lived with my grandparents when i was little .and its true about the respect that you have for them . and them for you .i also think it has made me respect the older generation we do owe them so much. my one regret was that i my granddad die when i was ten so he did not see me grow up .both my grandparents did not get the chance to meet my two boys which i know they would have been so proud of .a few years back i lost a baby though a miscarrige .now am not religious but i like to think that somewhere their are two great grandparents looking after a little child for its mum . just like they did for me xxx suzy

Digger, you are deep south London, you will sort it out mate.

To no one in particular:

If you live a good clean life, try and instill your values to your offspring, treat them as you would be want to be treated, you shouldn't go far wrong.

It didn't work for my parents but that wasn't their fault

Think we have all been there at some stage or another.

Me, I was brought up with a slap and a strap............Now, I dont smack my daughter shes 7. Instead we use "forced resistance", Ive been sat on the floor in the middle of Asda for 45 mins at one stage when she has been kicking off.

Other parents walk past and give you a look, all that you are doing is stopping them from getting up, sat with your legs across theres in a sort of cross legged position and holding their arms in a bear hug. This is continued till they say sorry and have calmed down "PROPERLY".

I was a bit of a tear away when I was a youngster, doing all the sort of stuff that I think some of the kids are doing nowa days, didnt get into trouble with the plod though.

Kids have no respect nowadays. I dont blame music, ie rap etc etc. Its their parents. Poor upbringing provides poor social skills and a general crappy attitude that the world owes you everything.

Now, Im not tarring everyone with the same brush here, but if your a Hoodie wearing scally then your a hoodie wearing scally.

Teenagers will rebel......but god help my daughter when she thinks that she can get away with doing something "because dad would never do that"..........Oh yes my dear................daddy has already done that..........and much more.............

When her mum gets back just tell her what a little **** she has got for a daugher and ask her if she has made plans for the funeral or the birth of the baby......

its a real shame that all our accents are being lost

due to whats been mentioned earlier americanisation

and rap music i come from the heart of the black country

were our accent was mainly made up of slang words

and quite hard to understand but ime very proud of that

but if you listen to kids now from there including my own

neices and nephews and they sound completely different

to what we did and no where near as broad.

i tell you what though theres a difference between the kids

who listen to rock music than the ones who listen to this ghetto rubbish

my lad and all his freinds never bring back trouble all is there interested in is there

music and are quite layed back in comparison somtimes to laid back

i must admit but still there nicer kids than these hoodie hooligans.

regards paddy.

Know exactly what you mean, I haven't spoken to the daughter for 3 days now. Trouble is we're as stubborn as each other!

I can't understand why white kids wanting to sound like black kids has become so cool?

I am with you on the politeness thing Digga, our son doesn't get anything unless he asks with a please and ther is a thankyou after receiving it. All you can go on is feedback from school and other parents, and he is most welcome at all his friends houses based on his good behaviour - so all that hard work may be paying off after all

It so nice to hear this! The same goes for our household.

'sall abow re-spec, innit; y'know wah ah mean?

My old man would say,'Fetch the strap.'

Guest The Outlaw

I have an 11 year old going down this road now she is at secondary school.

Over my dead body! Just hope I live long enough to see her through getting married.

It doesnt matter what we try we just get the Kevin attitude from her.

I hate modern kids they think they know everything and they are always right.

A bit like us but gobbier

My lad is 3, nearly 4. If he comes home from the local school one day giving it all that 'innit' ****, I'll be making plans to move abroad in short order. I'd rather he grew up speaking French than that Jafaican patois.

Come to think of it the froggies have a lot more freedom than we do so I might think about doing that anyway.

On the odd times I see Jeremy Kyle on TV it makes me appreciate my life more, and the fact I don't have teenage kids

All through the 90's the youth of today have demended their freedom from rules and authority, they now have it, but they don't have the responsibility that comes with freedom.

Lack of disipline at school is one cause, being told off never hurt anyone, a good whack with a cane tended to change your attitude a bit. The doo gooders that said that corporal punishment was against their human rights are the ones to blame.

But what future do these kids have? Jobs are hard to come by unless you want to work for absolute peanuts, immigrants will always work cheaper. What happened to the British industry? Died a death years ago so no apprenticships, no skills being passed onto younger generations so no chance of a regeneration of industry.

And what about house prices? How the hell is someone starting out supposed to buy a house? Low wages / high house prices.

When you really think about it why should they bother getting good grades at school just to work at Micky D's or shelf stack at Asda?

No excuse for them being arrogant little ****s who hang on street corners abusing passers by though
