loriusgarrulus
Flask of tea, a few sarnies. Its a picnic with potential. You would only be painting or doing some other job if home. Chill and enjoy.
jimmydean
The weathers been fair, theres a chance of a shot, a chance to feel the freedom of being alone, to think wise thoughts, of course you are mad, arent we all, but its a kind of blessed madness - I am happy to stay this way . rbrowning2
I wonder what shooting would be like if carlsberg had a say.
loriusgarrulus
I wonder what shooting would be like if carlsberg had a say. Rather off target, depending on how many you had.
stoxs
Nothing wrong in enjoying your suroundings. Not all about shooting 100`s of pigeons everytime . After you have been there and done it its sometimes nice just to chilax. Makes the real good days even better! biggest mistake you made is posting on here from the hide!!! LOL
stewartward
That's nothing me and fellow PW member Richie092 have sat in a field all day for about 15 shots and no kills I know we are definitely mad but good fun.
Fredwalton
Totally agree I love just being sat in the hide listening to the birds and watching the other wildlife. I'm still waiting for that big day to come. But posted as I super bored lol
timmytree
I was stuck in work, do you really want to swap?
Fredwalton
Had a grand total of 2 pigeons for 17 shots. Prob should have had at least 10 if I was a semi decent shot
Longstrider
I believe there is a trout fishing club who's motto is something like "Piscatora non piscatorum" or 'There is more to fishing than catching fish'. (I'm definitely open to correction on the Latin if anyone knows it ) Sometimes it's just the 'being there' that counts. As said above, see it as a picnic with potential. That said, my shot to kills ratio isn't much better on some days, and a lack of birds to 'practice on' does sometimes make you start to wonder about your own sanity
Guest Wilksy
Same for me on Sunday, pile off empty shells and a brace pigeons and a brace of rooks, but the highlight was a bloody great buzzard came right over the hide and later a barn owl working along the hedgerow
JDog
Neither. Keenness and inexperience I would say.

Fredwalton
Me too although I did manage to decoy them in better yesterday found my rotary worked well just need to master exactly where is best to put it Although at times they came in nicely then the rotary scared them off. Is this normal?
Les*1066
Been sat in the field since 10am, had 8 shots to 1 kill. Very few birds about yet I'm still sat am I mad? You sound as daft as me!
Whitetail
jdog nailed it, the more you go and hopefully shoot a decent bag or two the harder it will be to sit there when the birds aren't moving or likely too. I can't sit there knowing I'm wasting my time when I could be at work doing chores or doing some scouting about looking for another days shooting. Two builders I know have just started pigeon shooting and they were telling me how they went dawn to late afternoon for seven pigeons and had a brilliant day , joking I said I would have thrown myself on the hide poles rather than sit there for that , but years back I've been out that long for less
