Looks like the bullet went in and out!his insides were mush!

Got some brass to prep now then will be wrkin up a few loads!both in 20vmax and 25 hp.

Think the hollowpoints will be better for the foxes!but wel c!

Nice rifle :).I was trying to decide between a 17hmr or 17 hornet but liked the idea of having a cartridge I could reload

So I put in a variation for a 17 hornet last week.I've been looking at the savage and the cz but I do think the cz looks much better.

Had a look at the sythetic stocked savage.really wasnt impressed!aparently there accurate enough just a bit shabby!

Dont have any photos of groups with the cz but its plenty accurate for my needs!were al hitting around an inch or so once she was dialled in!

The bolt and extractor claw may need a little polishing to slick it up. It will take many years without it to slick up.
Always chamber from the mag as some Mauser claws won't slip over the cartridge rim if push fed. Avoid chambering a round with the barrel down too.

Nice rig :-)

Like the sound of the calibre.not fussed on the cz if I was honest.know it would be accurate but I like something to admire

I've got a 527 in .22 Hornet. Nothing wrong with it's looks, and personally, I would prefer something that I know will probably outlast me, rather than it's looks.

what sort of money is factory ammo? i'm looking for something equally at home with fox or rabbit, was maybe considering a small 22 c/f round but this looks like it'll do the job

although I might just stick with my original idea and just get a .222.

Its £200 for 250!a bit steep but reloads should be in and around 40p a bang.

Havent tried it on fox yet!you get conflecting reports about how good it is on them!personally i think itll do the job at sensible ranges!

Im goin to load some 25gr hollow points aswell to try, which should give better penetration than the 20gr vmax!

Its more than enough for rabbits but head shots leave you plently for the table and the ferrets get the others!

Avoid the 20gr Vmax on foxes, while its fairly early days for me with 25 HPs then two cubs I head shot between the eyes then the bullet passed through. So it should give enough penetration for an adult foxes heart.

Norman Clark has plenty of bullets.

Will do have 200 25hp to play with!which powder are you working with?

Im getin the heads over here in a place called tannyoky!

Looks like you've made a good start on the

I've been looking at similar packages. I've seen the same deal with a bushnell banner, getting an elite at that price is a real bargain.

Aye i was happy enough!its the best scope ive had anyway Edited by Euget123

ID not bother it's the hp bullets I had some 25grn hp bullets. they were zipping through everything.....rabbits drilled foxes drilled with no real damage. Shot 2 foxes body shots where the bullets passed though and both had to have a flow up shot after they stopped running chest shots too sideways on.

I'm using 20gr vmax now with good effect. Try 25grn vmax but I couldn't get them to stabilise.

Been wondering about a variation for a 17 Hornet, but read many reports of quarry being drilled through with little stopping power, so still undecided (mostly with 25HPs it has to be said). Be interested in the sort of groupings possible (MOA?).

Great scope BTW. I've been using a 4200 Elite (Mildot version with rainguard) for several years now. It replaced an MTC Mamba on my HMR which I didn't get on with at all. I found parallax to be an issue with the MTC (maybe a faulty unit?). The only gripe with the Bushnell is so-so eye relief and not the brightest scope around for the money, but still a quality bit of kit. I think used, I paid about £250 for it several years back. No idea what the equivalent new one is these days but no plans to change it anyway.

Powder is N120 Vit. Nice, consistent and meters well. At the moment BR4 primers but Fed 205 are just as good. there is a train of thinking in the USA that pistol primers may be more consistent velocity wise but I can see that 30fps makes a lot of odds at the distances we are likely to be using it at.
