Fredwalton
Hi I'm looking at buying a big bag for all my nets, decoys etc anyone got any suggests on which are the most hard wearing etc? Thanks
fenboy
I use a large fishing rucksack , it has so far lasted me about 20 years , though it is looking worse for wear now . Army kit bags are hard wearing but more difficult to carry.
TIGHTCHOKE
Army Bergan, the LONG BACK version, comfortable and takes 100 litres in the main compartment and two detachable 10 litre pockets. Cheap, available and built to last! Edited June 25, 2015 by TIGHTCHOKE
Fredwalton
I saw a jack Pyke bag are they any good or are you paying for a branded name?
fenboy
I saw a jack Pyke bag are they any good or are you paying for a branded name? I would steer clear of anything with the jack pyke name on it anything of theirs I have had has fell to bits in no time.
Fredwalton
Well that's what I though, I kinda figured that could be the case. I have a hat of theirs but hats can't really go wrong. I want a fairly big to carry most of my stuff in one as at the moment I have to carry 2 or bags and it's a pain

I thought the principle of the hide poles they do is very good , but there was someone on here the other week saying his just snapped off trying to get them into hard ground. Fredwalton
I have found a bag on the pigeon shooter website that looks ok. I have brought stuff off him before. http://www.thepigeonshooter.com/ProductDetails.asp?ID=55&CategoryID=7 Edited June 25, 2015 by Fredwalton
TIGHTCHOKE
Good luck Fred, one of the most uncomfortable bags when loaded I have ever had the misfortune to carry. I was given one and use it to hold spare nets in the garage.
Fredwalton
Ok won't be buying this then. I have txt a mate in the navy to see if he can get a big bag for me
Cosd
Large fishing rucksack. The kit does get heavy, and for me the rucksack is by far the most comfortable way to carry it when you need to go across fields or to your hide spot. Fredwalton
So in one bag can you get nets, decoys, batteries and all of the other bits needed?
motty
I have never seen a ruck sack that is big enough for all the gear I carry.

dazb1967
My mate has the Large Jack Pyke bag and it's brilliant, holds loads of kit and seems well made, I have a dutch army kit bag, holds everything I need and still has more room, only problem is it's not that comfy
motty
Come on Motty, list what you take out each time! I usually take 4 or 5 nets, 7 or 8 hide poles, magnet, flapper, 12 fuds, 20 shell decoys, 1x 20ah battery, 1x 7ah battery and other various bits. marsh man
I usually take 4 or 5 nets, 7 or 8 hide poles, magnet, flapper, 12 fuds, 20 shell decoys, 1x 20ah battery, 1x 7ah battery and other various bits. There is no way possible I could carry half that , on top of what you mentioned there are cradles , gun , shells , dead pigeons for the magnet , seat to sit on and refreshments for me and my dog , plus the game bag with my bits and pieces in . Unless I can drive up to where I intend shooting I normally make two trips and all my gear is in post office sacks , there are better bags ect on the market, but I have had these for years and I am to mean to invest in anything else . Fredwalton
Yeah I think even with a big bag I will still need to do a couple of trips it's just I want a bigger bag to try and do two trips rather than three like I sometimes have to. It all depend on the individual really , why have a massive bag to cram every thing in and then you find it is to heavy to lift . I have got different nets , decoys , batteries and seats so if I have got a fair way to walk I can use my lightest gear and get away with one trip or if its not to far and I want a bigger batterie , full body decoys and my swivel seat ect. I am happy to make two trips .
