Dougy
I had originally had this Dog Fox down for a 22.00 - 22.30 visit as it had twice managed to sneak behind me, only to dissappear without trace, so I thought I would wait somewhere different tonight. And s0ds law the wind was not in my favour, behind me and straight to the normal position of entrance to the field the fox would normally be seen. I moved the truck a tad to give me as much advantage as possible and had to make do. I put my caller out at around 150 yds to try and get it out into the field for my best chances. After several coffees and umpteen odd minutes of scanning with my new cheating device "thermal spotter" I got a tad bored with counting the glow from the 18 or so bunnies in the field and the 2 Big ugly Rams in a paddock 200 yds away. No signs of this Fox that had been quite punctual the last 2 outings, I decided that 1/2 an hour past its normal time I had given it enough of a chance to show, anc thought it had let me down. I started to gather my stuff, flask, call remote, cushion (I like a little comfort) and my rifle rest all ready to get off home. Well it's like fishing, 1 last cast, but for me it's 1 last wiz round with the spotter. And well was it worth it , there's Mr Fox trotting along the fence line not a care in the world, NV on IR on, find fox, a little squeak to slow him down, x hair on and --- job done the old Sierra dropped him at 110 yds, no exit whatsoever, he certainly didn't know much about that. At this rate i may even get a pint from the keeper...... lol Edited September 3, 2015 by Dougy
Dave-G
Good for you Dougy. You didn't take long to get that thermal once you'd made up your mind what you wanted.

FOXHUNTER1
Argh yes the last, Last look round............. Surprising how often this happens. Last night we had 2 foxes in the bag and was heading home out of the farm and decided to have a last call. Guess what number 3 was in the bag 10 mins later

Dougy
I normally walk round that bit, but I had a better chance of a shot in the back of the pickup with raised firing point.
