Mike737
Many years ago I nearly lost an eye replacing the original bolts on my father-in-law's cylinder head, torqueing them down in sequence, when there was a noise like a gun going off, and I felt agonising pain in my right eye. The bolt head had sheared off one of the bolts I had tightened, flew forward (transverse engine), and hit me on the eyebrow. Bled like a stuck pig, and had to go to A&E for x-ray and stitches. half an inch lower, it would have been straight in the eye. I never thought I needed safety goggles to re-fit a cylinder head... I didn't even realise what had hit me until afterwards. So please be careful! Mike.
ditchman
quite believe it...........i have put a few heads down and never had a bolt snap........but it always worries me that i am on the limit...and is the torque bar calibrated right !........so i always go to the lower limit on the setting.............might invest in a torque multiplier....it will make it easier to kill myself then...
