AberFowl
Is it just the new 2015 l200 that has this super select gearbox 4wd system thing I have heard about??
WinchesterDave
no all of the 4x4s do as far as I'm aware
Harnser
Not sure when it came out ,but some of the earlier models did not have it . My 15 plate warrior does have it . Not quite sure what they mean by super select is ,but mine can be engaged into to four wheel drive on the move into 4 high range and can be run in 4 wheel drive on the road . It also has diff lock in high range and in low range . It makes the truck very capable off road . It can be driven in high or low range with out diff lock ,or just push the lever forward one notch to engage the diff lock . Thelongwayup
I have a new shape (or last new shape now) 56 plate that has super select. Allows you to engage 4wd whilst on the road up to a certain speed. It's brilliant in snow if your back wheels start to loose traction or you need that extra pull when towing. bluesj
It is fitted on most of the new shape (pram) 06 on, from the warrior up I think. as said its great for towing in the wet and in the snow and ice, just put it in the first 4x4H and drive if you hit some snow or ice you have that little bit more help. Also good when pulling out of iffy turnings, a couple of the farms I shoot have gravel drives that join the road on fast corners and when you pull out you want to make sure your not half way out and the wheels start spinning. That's one reason I want one...some terrible junctions up near me, use an old l200 for work sometimes and have had a few scary 'half out' moments! Also often get a good scattering of snow between my house and work so would be a great help. Thanks for the replies
BrowningDJC
Super select first appeared on the mk2 shogun in 1991, every shogun since then has had it. The l200 was first fitted with it in 06. Even though the trojan model wasn't fitted with it until 2012. As others have said it's great in bad weather or when towing as you can drive in 4H on the road. It's one of the main reasons why I chose my mitsubishis. super sharp shooter
The shogun manual even says that you should always tow in 4h
